Scenario:Madison is on a mission to find a nice, solid, respectable man, but when her ex-husband, Ethan, reenters her life and tries to win her back, she must decide if she can give him a second chance.
Create my version of this story
I was in the middle of my shift at the hospital when I got the call.
My son, Carter, had been in a car accident with his father, Ethan.
Ethan and I had been divorced for three years now, but we’d managed to stay on good terms for Carter’s sake.
I’d even started to think that maybe we could be friends again someday.
But then he’d gone and married someone else, and I knew that would never happen.
I didn’t want it to happen anyway.
I was over him.
Or at least I thought I was until I saw him standing there in the emergency room, his face as white as a sheet.
"Madison," he said, his voice hoarse with emotion.
"I’m so sorry."
I was working a long shift in the emergency room when my phone rang.
I didn’t answer it at first, but then it rang again.
And again.
And again.
Finally, I reached into my pocket and pulled it out.
The number was one I didn’t recognize, but that wasn’t unusual.
When he’d left me, I swore we’d never speak again, but that hadn’t been practical.
Not when we shared a son together.
We’d both put our differences aside for Carter’s sake and had managed to maintain a civil relationship over the years.
But that didn’t mean it wasn’t hard for me to see him with another woman.
He’d remarried a couple of years ago to a woman named Jessica whom Carter seemed to adore.
I’d met her a few times at school functions and had even chaperoned a few of Carter’s birthday parties where she’d been in attendance.
The first time Ethan and I met was in the break room of the fire station where he worked as a firefighter and I worked as a nurse across the street at the hospital.
I was instantly attracted to him, and he didn’t hesitate to ask me out on a date.
Though I usually played hard-to-get at first, I was too eager to start a relationship with Ethan so I said yes right away.
We went out to dinner and a movie that night and ended up back at his place where he showed me exactly what he could do with his hands and lips.
As someone who’d been on the dating scene for years before meeting Ethan, I knew what good sex was versus bad sex…and our sex was amazing.
It was as if we were made for each other in every possible way.
So when he asked me to move in with him after only six months of dating, I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
