I accidentally fell into the world in Love and Deepspace, found that I become a real hunter, and got to meet my digital boyfriend there.
I woke up in a world that looked and felt like it was ripped straight from a video game.
I half expected to hear the words “Welcome to Love and Deepspace” echo around me, but nothing came.
It was bright, the sun shining down on my face, and I could feel heat radiating from the ground beneath me.
I couldn’t believe it.
This was the game I’d been playing for two years.
The one with the massive, open world, and the beautiful graphics that had me questioning if it was real or not.
Actually, it wasn’t just a game.
It was real.
I couldn’t help but cry out in happiness.
“Welcome to Love and Deepspace,” someone said, their voice as musical as the game’s theme song.
I turned and saw a black-haired girl with brown eyes watching me with amusement.
She was wearing a white dress and holding a long knife.
Not sure why she needed a weapon in what was essentially a starting zone, but hey, I wasn’t one to judge.
“Thank you,” I said once I’d calmed down a bit.
She smiled at me, revealing perfectly white teeth.
“Glad to see you made it,” she said.
“So you were a player too?”
“We’re all players,” she said.
“And now we’re all hunters.”
“Right,” I said, and then my eyes widened in realization.
“That’s why you have a weapon.”
She eyed me for a moment before saying, “Yes, that’s why I have a weapon.”
I decided not to press the issue.
It seemed like she’d been doing this for a while, so she probably knew way more than I did anyway.
“It’s good to know there are other people here too,” I said as I got up from the ground.
She looked around her as if just noticing that we were alone.
“I guess they haven’t all woken up yet.”
That made sense, I supposed.
There were probably hundreds of thousands of players, so they wouldn’t all wake up at once, right?
That would be crazy!
“So, do you know how this works?”
She laughed at that question, her voice ringing out like silver wind chimes.
“No, I have absolutely no idea,” she said.
“But I’m hoping to figure it out soon.”
I laughed with her, relieved to find someone who was just as clueless as I was.
I mean, I had a pretty good idea of what was going on, but I didn’t know how it would happen for sure.
I’d figure it out when it happened, I supposed.
“So what do we do now?”
I asked her, and she raised an eyebrow.
I thought we’d start out by exploring a bit.
There’s so much of this world we haven’t seen yet.”
She laughed and drew a circle in the air.
A map appeared before us, displaying the entire game world.
I couldn’t help but gasp at the sight of it.
It was even more beautiful than I’d imagined it would be.
The forests were lush and green, and the lakes were shimmering in the sunlight.
Even the mountains looked amazing, stretching off into the distance, their peaks hidden by clouds.
“Come on,” she said with a smile as she turned to walk away.
“You coming or not?”

My eyes were locked onto the map, so it took me a moment to realize she was talking to me.
I tore my eyes away and saw that she was standing at the edge of the clearing, staring at me with an amused smile on her face.
“Yeah,” I said as I hurried over to her.
“Just give me a second!”
I walked up beside her and took one last look at the map before it disappeared.
I sighed as I watched the pixels disappear into nothingness, but then I turned and followed her into the forest.
We’d been walking for about ten minutes when we heard it.
The sound of something huge crashing through the trees behind us.
I turned and saw a massive dragon coming straight for us, its claws extended and its mouth open in a roar.
I screamed and tried to run, but my legs wouldn’t move.
I was frozen in place, my heart pounding in my chest as the dragon got closer and closer.
Lily grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bushes just as the dragon reached us.
It roared again and spun around to face us, its tail whipping back and forth in anger.
I was absolutely terrified.
“He found us,” Lily said as she pushed me down on the ground.
“I need to change your clothes so that you can run away.”
“What?”
I asked as she started to unzip my dress.
“I don’t have time to explain!”
she said as she pulled the dress off of me.
I was suddenly very aware that I wasn’t wearing a bra, and my face turned bright red as she quickly removed my underwear too.
“What are you doing?”
I asked in a panicked voice.
She didn’t answer.
Instead, she threw a pair of pants and a t-shirt at me before pushing me out of the bushes.
“Run!”
she yelled as she climbed out after me.
I pulled the clothes on as fast as I could while she looked around frantically.
The dragon roared again and took a step toward us.
Lily’s eyes widened when she saw it.
“There’s no time!”
she said as she pushed me to the left.
“Go that way!”
I stumbled but managed to stay on my feet.
I heard the sound of wings flapping and saw the dragon taking to the air above me.
Its massive wings were ripping the trees apart with every flap, and it was kicking up dirt and leaves with every step it took.
I screamed and ran faster.
The dragon roared again and then it dove toward us, its mouth open wide.
I screamed again and ducked as the dragon flew past us.
It landed on the ground a few feet away from me and roared again, its hot breath washing over me and making me gag.
Lily stared at it for a moment before saying, “I have an idea.”
She drew a circle in the air and a unicorn appeared before us.
It was beautiful with its golden horn and flowing mane, and it was powerful too, because it threw its head back and screamed at the dragon before charging at it with its horn extended.
The dragon roared and flapped its wings to take off again, but the unicorn was too fast.
It smacked into the dragon’s chest before the dragon could get high enough to escape from it and sent the dragon crashing to the ground with a roar of pain.
Lily grabbed my hand and said, “Get on!”
I jumped onto the unicorn’s back and held on as Lily climbed up behind me.

The unicorn took off without waiting for her to get settled.
We soared through the air as the dragon tried to follow us.
I could feel the heat of its breath but I kept my eyes closed tight and held on as tight as I could to the unicorn’s mane.
The dragon roared again as we flew out of range of its fire breath and then it gave a frustrated howl before turning away.
Lily breathed a sigh of relief and said, “That was close.”
I opened my eyes and stared down at the ground below us as we continued to fly away from the dragon.
My heart was pounding so hard that I thought it would leap out of my chest and my hands hurt from holding onto the unicorn so tight but I didn’t want to let go either so I kept hanging on until we landed in a clearing.
I slid off the unicorn’s back as soon as it stopped moving and collapsed on the ground beside it, my body shaking uncontrollably.
My hands were bruised and bloody from holding onto the unicorn so tight, but I didn’t care; I’d never felt so glad to be alive.
“Well,” I said as I struggled to catch my breath, “that was exciting.”
“Are you ok?”
Lily asked as she knelt beside me and felt my forehead.
I nodded and smiled at her as I said, “I’m fine.I’m just out of shape.”
She laughed and said, “You did a good job.”
I sat up and examined the unicorn’s mane as I asked, “Where did you learn how to do that?”
She shrugged as she replied, “I saw someone else do it once.”
“You never told me that you could summon a unicorn,” I said as I stared at her.
She blushed and said, “It’s not really a special power, Ava.All hunters can do it.”
“It’s still cool,” I said as I stood up.
“Yeah,” she said with a smile, “it is.”
We walked back to the base camp in silence after that because we were both tired from our little adventure with the dragon, but as soon as we got back to the camp, Lily handed me a beautiful set of bows and arrows that she’d made herself with a smile.
“Here,” she said, “these are for you.”
“For me?”
I asked as I took the bows and examined them more closely.
They were beautiful and delicate, with intricate carvings on the bow itself and the arrows were long with sharp points that looked like they could pierce through anything easily.
“Thanks.” I said as I looked at her with a smile.
“I’m excited to learn how to use them.”
“So,” she said with a smile, “let’s get started then.”
We walked back out into the forest after that and she set up some targets for me to shoot at while she showed me how to hold the bow properly.
