I was in my room, playing Little Nightmares 2.
I had just gotten the game and I was already in love with it.
I loved the puzzles and the story line.
I especially loved Mono.
He was so cute with his little brown coat and pale skin.
I had a huge crush on him, even though he was just a video game character.
I was so into the game that I didn't hear my mom calling me from downstairs.
"Adsila!"
She called again, but still with no response.
"Adsila Green!"
She finally called my full name to get my attention.
"Sorry Mom, what was that?"
I asked, pausing my game.
"You need to come down and eat your lunch."
I sighed, putting down my controller.
"Okay Mom."
I reluctantly pause the game, promising myself to return to Mono soon.
As I head downstairs, Mono's presence lingers in my mind, his protective nature and our playful coat-stealing game replaying vividly.
At the dining table, my mom notices my distracted demeanor.
"Everything okay?" she asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, just thinking about...stuff," I reply, avoiding eye contact.
After lunch, I rush back to my room, eager to resume the game.
But as I reach for the controller, I notice something odd—a small paper bag on my desk, identical to Mono's.
My heart skips a beat as I pick it up cautiously.
The paper feels rough against my fingertips, and the cut-out circles for eyes stare back at me like empty voids.
I turn the bag over in my hands, searching for any clues or hidden messages.
Suddenly, I hear a faint rustling sound coming from inside the bag.
My pulse quickens as I carefully open the top flap, peering into the darkness within.
A small piece of paper slips out, carrying a handwritten note in messy scrawl: "Meet me at the old oak tree in the park at sunset."
My eyes dart around the room, half-expecting to see Mono standing in the corner, watching me.
But I'm alone.
The note seems to be calling to me, drawing me into a mysterious world beyond the confines of my bedroom.
Without hesitation, I crumple the paper and stuff it into my pocket, my mind racing with possibilities.
I glance at the clock on my wall; sunset is only a few hours away.
