I’m going to be late.
I can feel it in my bones.
The elevator is taking forever, and I’ve been standing here for what feels like hours, but is probably only a few minutes.
It’s just that I have so much to do today, and I can’t afford to waste any time.
I need to make a good impression on my first day of work.
I need to show everyone that I’m not the same person I was before.
That I’m responsible now.
That I can hold down a job and be a productive member of society.
That I’m not just some party girl who doesn’t take anything seriously.
But if I’m late on my first day, they’re never going to believe me.
