Lizzy
I'm 16 years old.
I'm Betty's half sibling and Jughead's half sibling too.
My parents are Alice Cooper and Hal Cooper but I don't resemble them.
I mean, they are blonde while I have dark brown hair like tomos soup.
But I resemble another person.
I am Lizzy Cooper-Jones.
My mom is Alice Cooper and my dad is FP Jones.
Yeah, you read that right!
FP JONES!
My real dad is FP and not Hal Coopet.
I am the daughter of Alice Cooper and FP Jones.
Ugh!
My so-called mom had me at the age of 16 and she had me with my uncle FP Jones.
Yes, you read that right!
My uncle!
My so-called father Hal Cooper isn't my real dad and neither is Archie Andrews.
I am a Jones and not a Cooper!
Alice had me with FP and not with her husband or expartner.
Ugh!
Mom had me at sixteen with the help of my grandma Juniper Blackhall and my uncle FP.
She had me put in the system when I was two because she couldn't take care of me.
She had to take care of her kid, me, all by herself because FP didn't want anything to do with me or her after he found out she was pregnant with me.
Mom had me put in the system so she could go to school and have a life.
I pace nervously in the empty diner.
It's been closed for an hour and I'm waiting for Betty and Jughead to show up.
I texted them to meet me here.
They'll be here any minute now.
I've been rehearsing how I'm going to tell them the truth.
I'm not sure if they'll believe me but I have to try.
I look out the window and see them walking across the parking lot together, laughing about something.
My hands are shaking as I wipe down the counter one last time before they arrive.
The bell above the door chimes as they walk in and slide into their usual booth.
Betty looks at me immediately, sensing something is wrong.
"Lizzy?" she asks, concern etched on her face.
Jughead slides in after her, his eyebrows furrowed in concern as he looks at me too.
I take a deep breath, clutching the DNA test results in my apron pocket.
I slide into the booth across from them, my hands still shaking as I pull out the papers.
Betty reaches across the table, her fingers brushing mine in concern.
"What's wrong, Lizzy?" she asks softly.
I pull out the worn photo of baby me with Alice and FP from my apron pocket and place it next to the test results.
They both stare at it, confusion on their faces.
"That's you," Betty says, looking up at me.
"And that's...Alice?"
Jughead asks, his eyes fixed on FP in the photo.
I nod, taking a deep breath before I begin.
"Alice is my mom. She had me when she was sixteen. She had me with FP. I'm her daughter."
Betty's eyes widen in shock, her hand reaching out to cover her mouth.
"FP is your father?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.
I nod again, feeling tears sting my eyes as I continue.
"Alice gave me up when I was two. She put me in the system because she couldn't take care of me. She was too young and didn't have any money. But she kept in touch with Juniper and FP so they knew where I was."
Betty looks at Jughead, then back at me, her face softening with understanding.
"I'm sorry," she says softly.
"I didn't know."
I shrug, wiping my eyes with the back of my hand.
"It's okay. I didn't either until recently."
Jughead's jaw tightens as he looks at me.
"So why are you telling us this now?"
I take another deep breath before I continue.
"I got pregnant when I was fifteen. The father is Malachi Ghoulies leader and my ex-boyfriend. He's Sophia's dad."
Betty's eyes widen again and Jughead curses under his breath.
"Malachi?"
Betty asks incredulously.
"Yeah," I say softly.
"I know he's bad news but he loves Sophia."
Betty looks at Jughead again and then back at me, her face shifting from shock to anger.
"Your mom abandoned you? At two?"
I nod again, feeling those tears sting my eyes once more.
"Yeah. She didn't want anything to do with me after that."
Jughead shakes his head angrily.
"Fuck Alice," he mutters under his breath. Betty reaches out and squeezes my hand gently before looking at Jughead and shaking her head in agreement with him.
I take a deep breath, finally ready to face the truth with them by my side.
"Malachi and I are in a custody battle for Sophia," I continue.
"We both want full custody but the court ruled we get shared custody. Malachi is throwing her a birthday party tomorrow."
As soon as I finish speaking, the overhead fluorescent light flickers and buzzes loudly, causing Betty to glance up at it with a frown.
I look up too, but instead of the light, my gaze falls on movement through the large front windows of the diner.
A dark silhouette stands motionless in the parking lot, partially hidden behind a pickup truck.
My heart skips a beat as I realize it's a man wearing a leather jacket and jeans, his stance eerily familiar.
I grip the edge of the table tightly, wondering if he heard what I just told Betty and Jughead.
The figure remains still, watching us through the window.
Betty follows my gaze, her body tensing up immediately.
Jughead jumps up from his seat and moves to stand in front of us protectively, blocking our view of the window.
Betty's voice is a whisper, barely audible over the hum of the diner, "Is that...Malachi?"
Jughead glances back at us, his eyes narrowing. "If it is, he's got some nerve showing up here."
I swallow hard, my voice trembling as I reply, "I didn't tell him about this meeting."
Suddenly, the man steps out from behind the truck and strides across the parking lot towards the diner.
Three more men flank him, their leather jackets and brass knuckles illuminated by the overhead fluorescent lights.
I watch through the windows as they push through the door, the bell jingling loudly as they enter.
Malachi's boots echo on the linoleum as he walks towards our booth.
His three Ghoulies spread out behind him like sentinels.
Betty slides closer to me, her body tense with fear.
Jughead positions himself between us and Malachi.
"Family reunion?" he sneers, his eyes fixed on the DNA results still scattered across the table.
"Keeping secrets from me, Lizzy?" he growls, his hand coming down hard on the table, rattling our coffee cups.
I slide out of the booth, my legs trembling beneath me.
Betty grabs my wrist, but I pull it away gently.
I give her a reassuring nod before moving to stand in front of Malachi.
Jughead tries to follow me, but I hold up a hand, stopping him.
Malachi's boots crunch on broken glass as he backs toward the door, his eyes never leaving mine.
The night air hits me like a slap in the face as I follow him outside, leaving his Ghoulies to block Betty and Jughead inside the diner.
The parking lot's harsh fluorescent lights cast an unforgiving glare over us as Malachi backs away from me slowly.
He towers over me, his leather jacket creaking as he crosses his arms over his chest.
"You've been lying to me about who you really are," he snarls, taking a step closer to me.
"I didn't lie, Malachi," I say, my voice steady despite the fear coursing through me.
"I just found out myself and needed time to process."
His eyes narrow, suspicion etched across his face.
"You're lying," he growls, his hand coming up to point an accusing finger at me.
"I know it. You've been playing me from the start."
I take a step back, my hands trembling at my sides.
But as I watch Malachi's face twist with rage, an idea forms in my mind - a way to protect myself and Sophia.
"Betty's the one who dug up the truth," I say, my voice steadier now.
"She hired a private investigator behind my back. I only found out tonight."
Malachi's head snaps towards the diner window where Betty stands watching us.
His jaw clenches as he mutters something under his breath about Coopers always meddling.
I lean against my car, keeping a safe distance from Malachi as I slowly reveal the whole story.
I start with the old photos of Alice and FP that Betty found in her belongings after she died.
Then I tell him about the name on my original birth certificate, and how Betty had arranged for a DNA test to be done without my knowledge.
Malachi's stance softens slightly as I pull out the baby picture of me with Alice and FP.
He looks at it for a long moment before handing it back to me.
"I never knew any of this," I say, my voice steady despite the tears threatening to fall.
"I didn't know anything until tonight. Betty's been keeping it from me too."
Malachi's fist clenches against his leather jacket as I tell him how Alice abandoned me at age two, leaving me alone in the trailer park where FP found me.
He's silent for a long moment, his eyes fixed on me.
Malachi's voice, barely audible and laced with disbelief, finally breaks the silence, "You're telling me Fp Jones is your biological dad?"
