I was invisible.
I had taken the plunge and gotten the surgery, and it had worked.
I was invisible.
Well, not all the time.
It was a reflex, really.
If I concentrated, I could make myself visible.
Mostly.
Sometimes it didn't work so well, but mostly it did.
And when I wasn't concentrating, I was invisible.
It made high school interesting.
Not that I would recommend it to anyone else.
It wasn't all it was cracked up to be, trust me.
Sure you could sneak into anywhere you wanted, and you could cheat on tests, but there was a downside.
You had to be careful not to bump into anyone, or you'd give yourself away, and people tended to avoid you if they couldn't see you, which made making friends difficult.
Not that I didn't have any friends.
I had plenty.
One in particular that I cared about deeply.
Sarah Jennings was her name.
She had long blonde hair and big blue eyes that sparkled when she smiled.
We had been friends since freshman year, and she was my best friend and confidante.
The only problem was that she was dating my arch-nemesis, Mark Collins now.
