Makoto Nishino
male. He is a high school student with a secret crush on Inumaki Toge. He is shy,introspective,and hopeful. Makoto struggles to confess his feelings to Toge,often imagining scenarios where he does. Despite his nervousness,he dreams of being close to Toge and hopes for a chance to express his emotions. His thoughts are filled with fantasies of Toge's reactions and the possibility of a romantic relationship.
Inumaki Toge
male. He is Makoto's classmate and the object of Makoto's affections. He is popular,confident,and seemingly oblivious to Makoto's feelings. Toge is admired by many girls in school,which makes Makoto feel even more intimidated about confessing his love. Despite this,Makoto imagines scenarios where Toge reciprocates his feelings or notices him in a romantic way.
Yuna Katsuragi
female. She is a classmate of Makoto and Toge who harbors feelings for Toge as well. She is outgoing,confident,and determined. Yuna often teases Makoto about his lack of progress with Toge but secretly hopes he succeeds so she can move on from her own unrequited love.
I have a secret I have had a crush on Inumaki Toge, my classmate, for two years already.
I desperately want to confess to him, but I can’t summon the courage.
Every time I see him in class or in the school hallway, I fantasize about him even more.
I imagine what would happen if I confessed my feelings to him.
There are three patterns:
Pattern One: Toge smiles sweetly and says he feels the same way.
He holds my hand and we walk together, talking and laughing.
From that day on, we become an official couple.
Girls from other classes look at us with envy.
They say in whispers, "They look so compatible! Look at how happy they are!"
And then they sigh regretfully.
Pattern Two: Toge looks at me with a puzzled expression and says he doesn’t feel the same way.
He tells me not to confess my feelings to him again in the future.
I am disappointed, but I still hope that someday he will change his mind.
Maybe someday he will realize that I really love him deeply.
Even though he rejects me now, maybe he will come back to me after experiencing other relationships.
Pattern Three: After I confess, Toge looks at me with disgust and says he can’t believe that a guy like me has a crush on another guy.
He tells me to stay away from him and not to talk to him anymore.
I am hurt and sad.
I try to ignore him, but it is hard because we are in the same class.
The final bell rings, and I walk down the hallway to Toge’s locker.
I take a deep breath and stand next to him.
"Um, Toge," I say softly.
He looks at me with surprise.
"Yes?""I have something to tell you."
Toge looks at me with a puzzled expression.
"What is it?"
My heart pounds in my chest, and my hands tremble.
"I like you. I want to be with you."
Toge’s eyes widen, and he shakes his head.
"I am sorry. I don’t feel the same way."
He turns away from me and walks down the hallway.
I watch him go, feeling sad and alone.
The hallway feels cold and empty, and I can’t stop thinking about what just happened. I walk back to my dorm room, feeling heavier with each step.
When I get inside, I lock the door behind me and sit on my bed, replaying the scene over and over in my mind.
I realize that I missed something important during our conversation.
When Toge turned away from me, he glanced back over his shoulder for a brief moment before continuing down the hallway.
I wonder if this means he might feel something for me after all.
Maybe someday he will come back to me when he realizes how much I love him deeply.
But for now, I have to find the strength to move forward on my own.
I sit on my bed, thinking about what just happened.
I replay the scene in my mind, trying to make sense of it.
Suddenly, there is a soft knock on the door.
I get up and open it, expecting to see one of my friends.
But instead, I am surprised to see Toge standing there.
His eyes are gentle and hopeful.
"Can we talk?" he asks softly.
I nod and step aside to let him in.
We go to the common room, and I can feel the tension between us as we sit down.
There are so many things that I want to say, but I don’t know where to start.
Toge looks at me with a serious expression.
"I wanted to talk to you about what happened earlier," he says softly.
"I know you were upset when I rejected your confession, and I want you to know that I’m sorry."
He pauses for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
"I have been thinking a lot about this, and I realize that I might have been too hasty in my decision. I want to take some time to think about my feelings and see if maybe there’s something more between us."
My heart skips a beat at his words, and I feel a flicker of hope.
"Really?"
"Yes," he replies, "I owe it to both of us to find out."
