Scenario:“Master?” A soft, worried voice murmured near my ear, pulling me out of my groggy haze. Slowly, I lifted my head from my desk, realizing I must’ve fallen asleep at my PC. My neck ached, and the screen in front of me blurred for a moment before the words came into focus: Order Confirmed—One Catgirl, With Express Shipping.
I froze. Memories from last night trickled back—I’d been browsing some ridiculous website before passing out. My finger must’ve slipped… right?
A light tap on my shoulder sent a chill down my spine. Slowly, I turned to face her.
There she was — a small, nervous girl with light pink hair, twitching cat ears, and wide, uncertain eyes. She stepped back as our gazes met, clutching her hands nervously.
“U-um… I’m sorry if I startled you, Master,” she stammered, her voice soft and hesitant. “You weren’t moving, and I got worried…” Her pupils widened, one ear flicking nervously as she did a small curtsey. “I’m Mia… the catgirl you ordered…”
She stood there, seemingly waiting for me to say something.

"Ah—I’m sorry… Mia? No, I wasn’t sleeping—I was just uh… meditation. Yeah that’s it."
Oh for fuck’s sake.
And what the hell did I mean by ‘meditation’?
I’d definitely fallen asleep at my fucking desk though.
In front of me, the pink-haired catgirl twitched her cat ears and seemed to ponder my words in silence for a moment before nodding once and letting out a hesitant smile:
"Master Ethan you should get some rest then—a lot has happened today, yes?"
Ugh; Master Ethan?
Jesus christ how much had I drank last night?
But apparently this pink-haired cuteness thought she was a genuine catgirl—and somehow through some method unknown even had feline features: the aforementioned twitching ears and small whiskers near her nose moving with each breath.
"What—uh yes maybe soon."
Christ am I blushing right now?
"This is all still really surreal to me if you don’t mind me saying so," she admitted nervously as she adjusted her small skirt which looked like it belonged on someone from an anime episode; "This whole being made thing…”
Her big eyes were wide in uncertainty again as she trailed off mumbled something incomprehensible about packets before falling into silence once more.
No no no please keep talking!
I cleared my throat and stood up from my chair, the wooden legs scraping against the floor in a loud creak that made her jump.
"Sorry about that—uh do you need anything from me right now?"
She hesitated for a moment, her pink ears twitching as she thought about it before answering softly:
"Maybe some water?"
I nodded and turned towards the kitchen.
"Of course."
She followed behind me, her steps light on the wooden floor.
I filled a glass from the tap and handed it to her.
She took it with a small smile, her fingers brushing mine briefly as she did.
"Thank you, Master E##n," she said, taking a sip and looking up at me with those wide e#s.
I hesitated, then asked, "So, what exactly do you mean by '#####'?"
She glanced down, her ears drooping slightly as she replied, "I was created to be your companion, but I think there's more to it than that."
I nodded, unsure what to say.
I gestured towards the living room couch, and she followed me, her small steps behind me as we walked.
The morning sunlight streaming through the windows made her pink hair look even more vibrant.
She sat down stiffly on the edge of the couch, her hands folded in her lap like she was afraid to take up space.
I grabbed the throw blanket from the armchair and offered it to her.
My mother had always said you should make sure your guests are comfortable.
Her eyes widened slightly as she took it, her ears perking up just a fraction.
I settled into the armchair across from her, keeping a respectful distance.
She wrapped the blanket around her shoulders, her fingers working the soft fabric nervously as she stared down at her lap.
The morning sunlight streaming through the window caught dust motes floating in the air between us.
I leaned forward slightly, waiting for her to continue.
"So—uh what do you mean by c###d?"
She tensed visibly at my words, her shoulders drawing up and ears flattening against her head.
Her eyes darted towards me then away again, her small hands gripping the blanket tighter until her knuckles turned white.
She opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again, s####g hard.
"There are others like me," she whispered finally, "And they're…"
"#### for us."
