I lost the love of my life to a zombie.
I did everything I could to save her, but all my efforts were in vain.
The last memory I have of her is from the day she turned in my arms.
Even now, I can still feel her warm body and see the recognition in her eyes before they turned lifeless.
I was unable to save her, but she knew that I had tried.
That thought alone brings me comfort.
Three years have passed since then.
I wake up to find a young girl sitting on my lap.
She has a smile similar to Sarah’s, the girlfriend I lost.
The girl looks at me with big, curious eyes, and then suddenly asks if I am her daddy.
Confused, I look at her and wonder who she is and how she ended up in my lap.
As I ponder over this, she tells me about how she was being chased by zombies and climbed into my car for safety.
Relieved that she is okay, I ask her where her parents are, but she tells me that she doesn’t know.
Sympathizing with her situation, I offer to let her stay with me until we can figure out what to do next.
She agrees and thanks me.
As I look at her, I am reminded of Sarah and the pain I had endured when I lost her.
I can never let anything happen to this girl.
