Lisa ensures Caitlyn's safety by finding her a bathroom when she needs one urgently. I’ve never been to one before, but I know that much.
The house is huge—two stories with large windows and long wooden stairs to the second floor.
It’s one of those houses you see on TV where the rich kids have their parties.
This one belongs to a friend of Alex, my sister Lisa’s date.
I’m not allowed to drive yet, so she brought me.
"Are you having fun?" she asks, her big brown eyes sparkling.
"Yes."
I lie.
Truthfully, I don’t know what fun is.
I’m twenty-one and have never had a drink or been to a party, or a club, or had any experience with boys beyond kissing and petting.
My only experiences have been with Mike, my boyfriend of three years now.
But the question is, how can you know what you like if you haven’t experienced anything else?
"I’m going to get another drink," she says, leaving me standing by the wall with my almost full cup of beer in my hand.
"Want one?"
"No thanks."
I hate beer, but I was too afraid to say anything when she ordered for me.
"Okay, be right back."
She disappears into the crowd.
There must be two hundred people here, maybe more.
They’re all drinking, dancing to loud music, talking, laughing.
The whole scene is chaotic and makes me feel extremely uncomfortable.
