I was nineteen years old and thirty-five weeks pregnant.
I was very happy to be pregnant, and I didn’t care what other people thought.
I didn’t work because I was pregnant, and I didn’t want to. I stayed at home all day, but I wasn’t bored.
I loved being at home.
My mom worked from home, too, so she was with me all the time.
I liked that.
I liked that my mom took care of me.
Sometimes, I felt bad that she had to work, but she said she was happy to be at home with me.
She was thirty-nine years old and still young.
She had separated from her partner when I was born, but she didn’t need him for financial support.
She was independent, and I admired that about her.
I wanted to be like her when I grew up.
But I didn’t think about that too much because I just wanted to enjoy my life.
I loved being pregnant, and I loved that I was going to have a baby.
I didn’t know who the baby’s father was, and I didn’t want to know.
That didn’t matter to me at all.
I just wanted a healthy baby, and my doctor said that my baby was going to be very healthy.
I'm Pregnant
I sat on the living room couch, watching my mom type away at her laptop.
She looked up at me between emails.
"You’re wearing your favorite thin cotton shirt," she said.
"I was thinking about walking to the convenience store to get some snacks," I said.
"It’s cold outside," she said.
"I’m not cold," I said.
"Let me check the weather forecast," she said.
She typed something on her laptop and then looked up at me.
"It’s supposed to snow later today," she said.
"I don’t care about the snow," I said.
I'm Pregnant
"I’ll get your winter coat," she said.
She got up and went to my room to get my coat.
I didn’t want to wear a coat, but she insisted.
She came back with my thickest sweater and my winter coat. "Put on the sweater first," she said, handing it to me.
I put on the sweater, and then she helped me into my coat.
I'm Pregnant
It was a little difficult because of my small bump, but I managed to get it on.
As I was zipping it up, I felt a kick from my daughter inside me.
I smiled at that, even though I was a little annoyed at having to wear a coat.
I stepped outside and walked toward the convenience store.
It was a little chilly, but I was warm enough in my sweater and coat.
As I walked, I felt another kick from my daughter inside me.
I smiled at that again.
Suddenly, I felt something cold on my cheek.
I looked up at the sky, and there was a tiny snowflake drifting down from above.
I stopped walking and watched as more flakes joined the first one.
It started to snow, and I couldn’t believe it!
I had never seen snow before, and now here it was!
I reached out my gloved hand to catch some of the flakes, and they melted right away on my palm.
But I didn’t care; I was just happy to be seeing this beautiful sight. My daughter kicked again inside me, and I smiled at that once more.
I continued walking toward the convenience store, but now I didn’t mind wearing my thick coat because it kept me warm in the cold air.
I'm Pregnant
As I walked, I looked up at the sky and watched as more snowflakes fell gently down around me.
It was so peaceful and serene, and I felt grateful to be alive to experience this moment.
Finally, I reached the convenience store and went inside to buy my snacks.
I'm Pregnant
I returned home, my cheeks rosy from the cold.
When I entered the house, I saw my mom at her laptop, working.
I took off my coat and gloves and sat back down on the couch.
I could still feel my daughter kicking inside me, but now I was even happier because I had just seen snow for the first time.
"Mom, it’s really snowing outside," I said, excitement in my voice.
She looked up at me with a surprised expression on her face.
"Really?" she asked.
I nodded, and she got up to look out the window.
We both watched as more snowflakes fell gently down from the sky.
She smiled and put her arm around me.
"I’m glad you got to see it," she said.
I leaned into her and felt safe and warm in her presence.
I'm Pregnant
"I’m going to take a hot bath," I told Mom.
She nodded, still typing away at her laptop.
I walked to the bathroom and turned on the faucet.
The tub began to fill with warm water, and I added some bubble bath for extra relaxation.
As I undressed, I felt my daughter kick gently inside me again.
I smiled at that and stepped into the tub.
The warm water enveloped me, and I sank down into it, feeling my muscles relax.
My daughter kicked again, and I placed my hand on my belly, feeling the movement beneath my skin.
I closed my eyes and let the water wash away all my worries and stress.
The bathroom door creaked open slightly, and my mom peeked her head in.
"Sweetheart, there's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice tinged with hesitation.
I opened my eyes and looked at her, sensing the weight of her words.
I'm Pregnant
I sat up in the bath, bubbles clinging to my skin, and met her gaze.
"Okay, Mom. What is it?"
She took a deep breath and stepped inside the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
"We're going to move," she said, her words hanging in the air.
I stared at her, trying to process what she had just said.
"Move? Where?"
"Daegu," she replied, her eyes searching mine for understanding.
"Daegu?"
I repeated, still trying to wrap my head around it.
My mom nodded slowly, her expression serious.
"Yes, sweetheart. I got a job offer there. It's a better opportunity for us."
I remained silent, my mind racing with thoughts of leaving our home in Seoul.
I'm Pregnant
My daughter kicked again inside me, as if sensing my unease.
I placed my hand on my belly and took a deep breath.
"Okay, Mom," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I understand."
She smiled weakly at me and nodded before turning to leave the bathroom.
As the door closed behind her, I sank back into the tub, lost in thought.
I'm Pregnant
I sat in the bathtub, the water cooling around me.
My mom re-entered the bathroom, and I looked up at her.
"There's something else," she said, her voice gentle.
"We need to visit your dad before we move."
I tensed, my d###r kicking harder inside me as if sensing my unease.
"Why?"
I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"It's important," my mom replied, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and determination.
"We need to say goodbye before we start our new life."
I nodded slowly, the bubbles popping around me.
"Okay," I said finally, my voice filled with resignation.
My mom smiled softly at me and left the bathroom once again.
I'm Pregnant
I remained in the tub, my hand on my belly, feeling my daughter's movements inside me.
The bathroom door creaked open again, and my mom hesitated in the doorway.
"There's one more thing," she said, her voice barely audible.
I looked at her, my heart pounding.
I'm Pregnant
"Are you ready to see your dad?"
My mom asked, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
I nodded, my daughter kicking gently inside me as if sensing my emotions.
We got into the car and drove to Dad's house.
As we pulled up, I could see Dad standing outside, a warm smile on his face.
My heart raced with anticipation and a hint of fear.
I took a deep breath and stepped out of the car, walking towards him.
"Hey there, kiddo," Dad said, opening his arms for a hug.
I hesitated for a moment before embracing him tightly, feeling a mix of comfort and uncertainty.
He pulled away and looked at me with kind eyes.
"You look great," he said, his voice filled with genuine affection.
"Thanks, Dad," I replied, my voice filled with emotion.
I'm Pregnant
He led me inside the house, where Mom was waiting for us.
She smiled at me warmly and took my hand, leading me to the living room. We sat down on the couch, and Dad joined us.
He looked at me with a serious expression, his eyes filled with love and concern.
"I've missed you so much," he said, his voice cracking with emotion.
I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I looked at him.
"I've missed you too," I replied, my voice trembling.
He reached out and took my hand, holding it tightly in his own.
"We have so much to catch up on," he said, his eyes filled with excitement and hope.
I nodded slowly, feeling a mix of joy and nervousness at the prospect of reconnecting with him after all this time.
We spent the rest of the afternoon talking and laughing together, catching up on each other's lives and sharing stories from the past few years. As we talked, I couldn't help but notice how much Dad had changed since I last saw him.
He looked older now, his hair grayer than before and his eyes more tired than they used to be.
But despite these physical changes, he still had that same sparkle in his eye that made him so lovable to everyone who knew him. My mom glanced at her watch and stood up from the couch.
"It's time to head back," she said gently, looking at me with a knowing smile.
I nodded, feeling the weight of the day settling in.
"Dad, will you come visit us in Daegu?" I asked, hope threading through my voice.
I'm Pregnant
He looked at me, his eyes filled with a mix of sadness and determination.
"I'll try," he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper.
My mom stepped forward and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Why don't you stay the night with your dad before we move?" she suggested, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
I looked at her, then at Dad, who nodded encouragingly.
"Okay," I said finally, my voice filled with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty.
My mom smiled at me and gave me a quick hug before heading out the door.
I watched her go, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me.
Dad came over and put his arm around my shoulders.
"Let's get you settled in," he said, leading me upstairs to the guest room. I sat on the bed, my hand on my belly as I felt my daughter kick gently inside me.
I looked around the room, taking in the familiar surroundings that brought back memories of my childhood.
Dad had always been there for me, even when things got tough between him and Mom.
I'm Pregnant
He had never stopped loving me, no matter what happened between them.
I took a deep breath and stood up from the bed, walking over to the window to look outside.
The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the city below.
I could see people walking along the street, going about their daily lives without a care in the world.
I felt a pang of jealousy towards them, wishing that I could be like them too. I turned away from the window and walked back to the bed, sitting down once again as I felt my daughter kick inside me.
I placed my hand on my belly and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath as I tried to relax.
I could hear Dad moving around downstairs, getting ready for dinner.
I knew that he would come up to check on me soon, so I decided to unpack my things while I still had some time alone. I opened my overnight bag and pulled out the clothes that Mom had packed for me earlier that day.
I hung them up in the closet and placed my toiletries in the bathroom before coming back to sit on the bed once again.
As I waited for Dad to come upstairs, I couldn't help but feel nervous about what was going to happen next.
Dad knocked gently on the door before entering, a soft smile on his face.
"Hey, kiddo," he said, sitting down beside me.
"There's something I need to tell you before you leave for Daegu."
I'm Pregnant
I looked at him, my hand on my belly as I felt my daughter kick inside me.
"What is it, Dad?" I asked, my voice filled with a mix of curiosity and nervousness.
He took a deep breath before speaking, his eyes filled with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.
"I've met someone," he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper.
"A woman named Princess. She's very nice, and I think you'll like her."
I nodded slowly, trying to process this new information.
"Okay," I said finally, my voice filled with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"When will I get to meet her?"
Dad smiled at me, his eyes filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness.
"She's coming over for dinner tonight," he said finally, standing up from the bed.
"I'll go downstairs and start getting everything ready."
I watched him leave the room before lying back down on the bed once again.
I'm Pregnant
As I waited for Dad to come back upstairs, I couldn't help but feel nervous about what was going to happen next. The doorbell rang downstairs, and I heard Dad's footsteps as he went to answer it.
I stood up from the bed and walked over to the window, looking outside as I waited for him to bring Princess upstairs.
A few moments later, I heard their footsteps coming up the stairs.
I turned around just as they entered the room together.
"Princess, this is my daughter," Dad said, smiling at me warmly.
I looked at her, taking in her long black hair and bright blue eyes that seemed to sparkle in the light.
She smiled back at me, her lips curving upwards in a gentle smile that made her look even more beautiful than before.
"It's nice to meet you," she said finally, her voice soft and sweet like music to my ears.
I nodded slowly, feeling a bit shy around this woman who was so different from anyone else I had ever met before. "You look great," she said suddenly, her eyes fixed on my belly as she smiled at me once again.
"Thank you," I replied automatically, forcing myself to smile back even though I didn't feel like it right now.
She sat down on the couch next to Dad and looked over at me once again.
"So tell me more about yourself," she said finally, her voice filled with genuine interest as she leaned forward slightly in her seat.
I'm Pregnant
I sat down in the chair across from her and took a deep breath before speaking.
"There isn't much to tell," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I'm just a normal person who likes to spend time with my friends and family."
She nodded slowly, her eyes still fixed on me as she smiled at me once again.
"That sounds great," she said finally, her voice soft and sweet like music to my ears.
I looked over at Dad, who was watching us with a smile on his face.
He seemed happy that we were getting along so well already.
After a few minutes of talking, Dad stood up and excused himself to go check on dinner.
Princess turned to me once again and asked if I wanted anything to drink.
I told her that water would be fine, and she got up to get it for me. As she walked out of the room, I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous around this woman who was so different from anyone else I had ever met before.
But at the same time, I was curious about her too.
Who was she really?
I'm Pregnant
What made her tick?
And why did Dad like her so much?
As I waited for Princess to come back with my drink, I couldn't help but feel a bit more relaxed around her now that we had started talking together.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
When Princess came back with my drink, we sat down at the table together and started eating dinner.
She asked me questions about my pregnancy and what it was like being pregnant at such a young age.
I told her how excited I was to have a baby girl and how nervous I felt about becoming a mother for the first time.
She listened intently as I spoke, asking questions every now and then to make sure she understood everything correctly. After we finished eating dinner, Princess helped me clear the table while Dad went outside for some fresh air.
As we washed the dishes together, Princess asked me if I wanted to go out with her sometime soon.
She said that she had heard about a new restaurant in town that served delicious food and drinks, and she thought it would be fun for us to try it together one night.
I told her that sounded great and thanked her for inviting me out with her.
I'm Pregnant
As we finished washing the dishes, Princess turned to me and said something that caught me off guard.
"Don't ruin my relationship with your dad," she said, her voice soft but serious at the same time.
I looked at her, my hand still holding the dishcloth in my hand.
My daughter kicked inside me, and I paused for a moment before responding.
"I won't," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper.
Princess smiled at me weakly and nodded her head once again before turning back to the sink to finish washing the last few dishes.
I watched her for a moment, feeling a bit confused about what had just happened between us.
But then I decided not to say anything else and just kept quiet instead. When we finished cleaning up the kitchen together, Princess excused herself to go use the bathroom while I went back into the living room to sit down on the couch for a few minutes before going upstairs to bed.
As I sat there waiting for her to come back downstairs again, I couldn't help but feel a bit more nervous around this woman who was so different from anyone else I had ever met before.
But at the same time, I was curious about her too.
Who was she really?
What made her tick?
I'm Pregnant
And why did Dad like her so much?
When Princess came back downstairs after using the bathroom, she walked over to where I was sitting on the couch and stood in front of me for a moment before speaking again.
"Thank you for coming over tonight," she said finally, her voice soft and sweet like music to my ears once again.
I looked up at her and smiled weakly back at her before nodding my head slightly in response.
She turned around then and walked out of the room without saying anything else, leaving me alone once again in the living room by myself. As I sat there waiting for Dad to come back inside from outside, I couldn't help but feel a bit more relaxed now that Princess had left the house already.
I knew that she would be coming back over here again soon enough though, so I tried not to get too comfortable just yet either way.
After a few minutes of sitting there alone in silence, I heard Dad's footsteps coming up onto the porch outside and then walking through the front door into the house again too.
He closed it behind him quietly before making his way over towards where I was still sitting on the couch waiting for him to get back inside already as well.
I'm Pregnant
"Hey there, kiddo," he said softly as he walked into the living room and sat down next to me on the couch too.
"How did everything go with Princess tonight?"
I looked at him for a moment before answering his question.
"It went okay, I guess," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper as I spoke to him now.
He nodded his head slightly in response before asking me another question.
"Did she say anything to you while we were eating dinner together earlier?"
I thought about it for a second before answering him again.
"No, not really," I said finally, my voice still soft and quiet as I spoke to him now.
He nodded his head once more in response before standing up from the couch again and walking over towards the kitchen instead.
As I watched him go, my daughter kicked inside me again and I placed my hand on my belly to feel her moving around in there too. After a few minutes of sitting there alone in the living room once again, I heard Dad's footsteps coming back into the room from the kitchen too.
He walked over towards where I was still sitting on the couch and sat down next to me again too.
"Is there anything else you want to talk about?" he asked me softly as he sat down beside me once more.
I'm Pregnant
I looked at him for a moment before answering his question again.
"Does Princess have any social media accounts?" I asked him finally, my voice still soft and quiet as I spoke to him now.
He nodded his head slightly in response before answering my question too.
"Yes, she does," he said finally, his voice soft and gentle like music to my ears as well.
"What is her Instagram handle?" I asked him next, my curiosity getting the better of me now too.
He thought about it for a moment before answering my question again.
"I think it's Princess_duck or something like that," he said finally, his voice still soft and gentle like music to my ears as well. I nodded my head slightly in response before standing up from the couch and walking over towards the stairs that led up to our bedrooms too.
As I walked away from him, I heard his voice calling out behind me once more.
"Goodnight, kiddo," he said softly as I made my way up the stairs already too.
I stopped for a moment and turned around to look back at him one last time before answering him again too.
"Goodnight, Dad," I said finally, my voice still soft and quiet as I spoke to him now too.
"Goodnight, Dad," I replied, my voice carrying a mix of warmth and hesitation.
As I reached the top of the stairs, I heard Princess's voice drifting up from below.
"Remember what I said earlier," she called out softly, her words lingering in the air like a gentle warning.
I'm Pregnant
I lay in bed at Dad's house, my daughter kicking gently inside me.
Unable to sleep, I reached for my phone and opened Instagram.
I typed "Princess_duck" into the search bar, my heart racing as her profile loaded.
As I scrolled through her posts, I searched for any signs of her past or hints about her intentions with Dad.
Each photo and caption felt like a puzzle piece, slowly revealing the enigmatic woman who had entered our lives.
I paused on a picture of her with another man, wondering who he was and what their connection was.
The next morning, as I sat at the kitchen table sipping my tea, Princess walked in, her expression unreadable.
"Did you find what you were looking for?" she asked, her eyes meeting mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.
I hesitated, unsure of how much she knew. "I don't know yet," I replied cautiously, "but I'm starting to piece things together."
