I was going to lose this bet.
There was no way I was going to catch more fish than my brother and his friends.
They’d been fishing these waters since they were kids, and I was the newbie here.
Sure, I knew how to cast a line and all that crap, but Beau had grown up with a rod in his hand.
He was in his element, and I was just along for the ride.
I leaned back against the side of the boat and yanked my baseball cap down over my eyes before wrapping my arms around my body.
"You know you’re not going to win, right?"
Beau glanced over at me and grinned.
"Think you’re going to take home all the goodies, little brother?"
I didn’t bother to answer him.
There was no point.
Instead, I closed my eyes and tipped my head back, letting the warm sun beat down on my face.
It wasn’t like I had anything to prove or anything.
My stepdad had left all of his wealth to me in his will.
It didn’t matter if I won this bet or lost; nothing was going to change.
"Kane!"
Beau’s call had me opening my eyes and sitting up straight.
"What?"
"I think you might want to take a look at your line."
