I held her hand tightly, making sure she didn't slip away from me.
I thought about how I was going to tell her parents that I lost her, and I couldn't bear the thought.
She was my everything, and I couldn't live without her.
I couldn't tell her parents that I let her get taken by those m###s.
I shivered at the thought of what could have happened to her if we didn't escape when we did.
I pushed the thoughts away, focusing on putting one foot in front of the other.
I couldn't believe that after everything we went through, we made it out alive.
Well, not quite alive, but more like unscathed.
We finally reached my house, and I pulled her up the porch steps.
Opening the door, I pulled her inside and closed it behind them, making sure they were safe.
She whimpered and clung to me tightly, burying her face into my chest.
I held her just as tightly, whispering words of comfort into her ear.
"It's okay. You're safe. They can't hurt you anymore."
She nodded but didn't release her grip on me.
I knew she was still scared, so I tried to focus on calming myself down to hopefully help calm her.
But it didn't work.
I gently lifted her chin so that she was looking at me.
Her eyes were wide with fear, and I knew I had to do something to help her snap out of it.
"Look at me, Madi," I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.
She slowly focused on me, and I could see the fear in her eyes start to fade.
I reached up and brushed a strand of hair out of her face, my fingers lingering on her skin.
She shivered under my touch, and I knew she was still scared.
I pulled her closer to me, feeling her heart pounding against mine.
My lips were inches from hers, and I could feel the heat radiating off of her skin.
I wanted to kiss her so badly, but I didn't want to push her too far.
She was already so scared, and I didn't want to make things worse.
But then she looked up at me with those big brown eyes, and I couldn't resist any longer. I leaned in close and pressed my lips against hers, kissing her softly at first.
She whimpered into my mouth, and I could feel her heart racing even faster now.
I deepened the kiss, sucking on her lower lip before nipping it gently with my teeth.
She moaned into my mouth, and I could feel her body trembling against mine.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer as I continued to kiss her deeply.
She gripped the front of my shirt tightly, holding onto me like a lifeline.
And that's exactly what she was - my lifeline.
Without Madi by my side, there was no way I would have made it through this nightmare alive.
