I took Hilary the Human Girl to the Jungle.
I taught her how to be a Monkey.
First, I showed her how to climb a Tree.
She was pretty good at it.
Then I showed her how to swing on a Vine.
This was a little harder for her.
But she was very brave and tried her best.
I went first and showed her what to do.
I grabbed the Vine and leaned back.
I swung out of the Tree and let go of the Vine.
I flew through the air and landed on a branch of another Tree.
"Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!"
I yelled out loud and let the sound echo through the Jungle.
It was a Tarzan yell, something I had learned from watching old movies back home.
When I was done, I looked over and saw Hilary grab the Vine.
She leaned back and swung out of the Tree just like I had done.
She let go of the Vine and flew through the air, landing on another branch of the Tree I was on.
"Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!"
she yelled out loud, copying my Tarzan yell exactly as I had done it.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I perched on the branch next to her, grinning at her successful vine swing.
To continue her monkey training, I started scratching my head vigorously with my right hand, demonstrating the classic monkey gesture.
Hilary watched intently as I switched to scratching my sides, my movements quick and exaggerated.
I opened my mouth wide and called out, "Ooh-Ooh-Ooh!" then followed it with "Aah-Aah-Aah!" making sure to project my voice through the jungle.
Hilary giggled, then mimicked my actions, first scratching her head, then her sides and made monkey noises, "Ooh-Ooh-Ooh, Aah-Aah-Aah!"
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
After all that swinging and monkey practice, I noticed my tummy rumbling loudly.
Hilary's belly grumbled too, and we exchanged knowing looks.
Spotting a nearby banana tree, I quickly scrambled up its trunk while Hilary followed close behind.
We reached the clusters of ripe yellow fruit and I demonstrated how to properly peel a banana from the bottom, just like real monkeys do.
We sat on a thick branch, legs dangling, sharing our bounty of fresh bananas.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows through the canopy, we knew we had truly become part of the jungle.
While finishing our bananas, a faint rustling caught my attention.
I held up my hand, signaling Hilary to stay quiet.
The sounds grew closer - leaves shaking, branches creaking, and soft chattering echoing through the canopy.
I pointed ahead, where movement stirred in the dense foliage.
Dark shapes swung between branches, getting clearer as they approached.
A large troop of monkeys emerged, some carrying their babies, others dragging fruit.
They paused on nearby branches, studying us with curious eyes.
Hilary leaned in closer to me and whispered, "Do you think they know we're not really monkeys?"
I nodded slightly, keeping my eyes on the troop, "They might, but as long as we don't threaten them, we should be fine."
One of the older monkeys chattered loudly, then tossed a piece of fruit our way, and I chuckled softly, "Looks like they're inviting us to come play with them!"
I watched as Hilary cautiously approached the troop, mirroring their movements.
She scratched her head and sides just as I taught her, making soft "Ooh-Ooh-Ooh, Aah-Aah-Aah!" sounds.
The monkeys tilted their heads, intrigued.
I joined in, scratching and calling "Ooh-Ooh-Ooh, Aah-Aah-Aah!"
A young monkey hopped closer, imitating our gestures.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Soon, we formed a circle with several monkeys, all scratching and calling together.
The older monkey who threw fruit earlier nodded its head in approval.
Hilary's eyes sparkled with joy as she realized we'd been accepted into their playful ritual.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow over the jungle, I pulled Hilary aside from our new monkey friends.
I had an idea, and I couldn't wait to share it with her.
"We should stay here in the jungle," I whispered, gesturing towards the lush canopy above us.
"Make this our home."
Hilary's eyes lit up with excitement as she nodded eagerly.
Looking down at our regular clothes, now dirty from tree climbing, I realized we needed proper jungle attire.
We had found some abandoned explorer supplies earlier, and I rummaged through them to see what we could use.
Among the dusty containers and torn maps, I spotted some leopard print fabric.
I cut out two pieces and tied them around my waist, creating a red loincloth.
Hilary watched with fascination as I worked.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Next, I helped her fashion a pink bikini top and a matching skirt from another piece of fabric.
Hilary twirled around, admiring her new outfit, "I feel like a real jungle queen now!"
I grinned, adjusting my loincloth, "And I'm your loyal jungle king, ready to swing through the trees with you."
I watch as Hilary stands tall on our branch, her pink leopard print outfit gleaming in the setting sun.
She takes a deep breath, raises her fists to her chest, and starts beating rhythmically.
The sound echoes through the trees, drawing curious looks from our monkey neighbors.
Inspired by her confidence, I step forward and pound my own chest, feeling the thump beneath my red loincloth.
Together, we lock eyes and nod.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
First Hilary unleashes a powerful "Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!" that rings through the jungle.
I watch as her eyes sparkle with anticipation, waiting for my turn.
Taking a deep breath, I grip the rough tree bark beneath my feet and lean back slightly, positioning myself.
The evening air fills my lungs as I lift my chin toward the darkening canopy.
My chest swells under my red loincloth, and I feel the energy building.
The monkey troop falls silent, their eyes fixed on me.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
With all my might, I let out a thunderous "Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!" that reverberates through the trees, causing nearby birds to take flight.
I notice movement in the dense foliage ahead while Hilary and I rest on our branch after our Tarzan calls.
Through gaps in the leaves, massive dark shapes emerge - a troop of gorillas moving deliberately through the undergrowth.
My heart pounds as I spot the leader, an enormous silverback with gleaming gray fur across his back.
I grab Hilary's arm gently, signaling her to stay still.
The gorillas haven't noticed us yet, but they're heading in our direction.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
The silverback pauses to uproot a small plant, his muscles rippling as he examines it before taking a bite.
I signal to Hilary to follow my lead as we carefully descend to a lower branch, keeping our eyes on the silverback.
We move slowly, trying not to draw attention.
I demonstrate how to walk on my knuckles like a gorilla, distributing my weight evenly and keeping my back hunched.
Hilary mirrors my movements, her pink leopard print outfit rustling softly against the bark.
The silverback notices our presence but doesn't react aggressively.
He continues foraging nearby, seemingly indifferent to our presence.
Encouraged by his acceptance, we edge closer, still mimicking the gorilla's posture.
Hilary whispers, "Do you think he knows we're not really gorillas?"
I nod slightly, keeping my voice low. "He must sense something, but maybe he's curious rather than threatened."
She glances at the silverback, her eyes wide with wonder. "What if he thinks we're part of his troop?"
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I watch as the silverback grunts softly, then gestures with his massive hand toward a patch of tender shoots.
Taking this as permission, Hilary and I carefully approach.
I demonstrate pulling up the shoots like he did, and Hilary follows suit in her pink outfit.
The gorilla's youngsters edge closer, intrigued by our presence.
One bold juvenile shows us how to strip the leaves properly.
We mimic the motion, earning approving nods from the adults.
When the silverback moves to a nearby tree to gather branches for nesting, we follow his lead, collecting our own materials.
Hilary looks at me, her voice barely above a whisper. "Do you think we could actually stay with them for a while?"
I pause, considering the possibility. "If they accept us, maybe we can learn more about their world than we ever imagined."
Her eyes light up with excitement. "Imagine what we'll discover living among them!"
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I gather soft leaves and flexible branches, following the gorillas' example.
Hilary and I search for a sturdy tree fork, about ten feet up where two thick branches meet.
I demonstrate how to weave the branches into a circular frame, while Hilary collects more materials.
We layer leaves and moss for cushioning, just like we observed the gorillas doing.
Working side by side, we bend smaller branches to create walls and a partial roof.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
After securing the final pieces, I test the nest's strength by bouncing gently.
Hilary nods in approval, and we settle into our newly built nest.
The evening jungle air cools our skin as we lean back against the curved wall of leaves and moss.
Nearby, the gorilla troop arranges themselves in their own nests, their massive bodies shifting as they get comfortable.
The silverback takes position in a nest below us, keeping watch.
Hilary adjusts her pink leopard print outfit and stretches out her long legs.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I tug my red loincloth into a more comfortable position.
I freeze, my fingers tightening on the edge of our nest.
Below us, leaves rustle against the jungle floor.
My eyes catch a glimpse of sleek black fur moving through the shadows.
The leopard's yellow eyes lock onto the young gorillas sleeping nearby.
I grip Hilary's arm, signaling her to stay absolutely still.
The big cat creeps closer, muscles rippling under its dark coat.
It's completely focused on the gorilla family.
My heart pounds in my chest as I watch it prepare to spring.
The silverback hasn't noticed yet, still resting with his back turned.
I watch Hilary's face harden with determination as she sees the leopard creeping closer to the baby gorillas.
Without warning, she rises in our nest, her pink leopard print outfit gleaming in the moonlight.
Her fists start pounding against her chest, the hollow thuds growing louder and faster.
The leopard freezes, head snapping toward us.
Hilary draws in a deep breath, and I can see the wild spirit I've been nurturing take over.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Her "Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!" pierces the night air, echoing through the trees.
The leopard's ears flatten, and it backs away slowly before turning and disappearing into the darkness.
The silverback grunts approvingly, acknowledging Hilary's bravery as the jungle settles back into its rhythmic hum.
I sit back in our nest, watching Hilary's chest still heaving from the force of her warning call.
The leopard's retreat marks a turning point.
The silverback rises from his nest and approaches our tree.
He looks up at us, making direct eye contact for the first time.
Then, in a gesture I recognize from my studies, he beats his chest three times.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
It's a sign of acceptance, of acknowledging us as part of their troop.
Other gorillas gather beneath our tree, some reaching up to touch our feet.
A mother gorilla brings her infant closer, letting it grasp Hilary's finger.
My heart swells with pride and love as I realize we've found our true family.
I lead Hilary through the dense foliage, pushing aside large leaves with each step.
Movement catches my eye, and I stop abruptly.
About twenty feet ahead, a troop of monkeys swings through the canopy, their brown fur visible against the green leaves.
I tap Hilary's shoulder and point upward.
The monkeys pause their travel, dangling from branches to stare at us with curious eyes.
A large male with gray patches shows his teeth - not threatening, but interested.
Several younger monkeys edge closer on nearby branches, tilting their heads as they study our leopard print outfits.
Hilary nudges me with her elbow, whispering, "Do you think they're trying to figure out if we're one of them?"
I chuckle softly, replying, "Maybe they're just wondering why we chose such a bold fashion statement for the jungle."
The large male monkey lets out a series of hoots, and Hilary grins, saying, "I think he approves."
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I scan the sturdy tree trunk before us, noting the rough bark and low branches perfect for climbing.
Hilary follows my lead as I demonstrate where to place our hands and feet, just like we practiced earlier in our training.
We move methodically upward, testing each branch before putting our full weight on it.
Our leopard print outfits catch on small twigs as we climb higher into the canopy.
The troop of monkeys parts to make room for us, some reaching down to offer helping hands.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Hilary pauses, looking at the monkeys and then back at me.
I pause mid-conversation with Hilary when a deep rumble vibrates through our tree branch.
A loud trumpet blast pierces the air, making the monkeys around us chatter nervously.
Through gaps in the foliage, massive gray shapes emerge - a herd of elephants moving steadily through the undergrowth.
Their long trunks swing gently as they walk, pulling down branches and stripping leaves.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I watch nervously as Hilary's eyes light up with a daring idea.
She spots a thick vine hanging near our branch and tests its strength with a firm tug.
Before I can protest, she grabs the vine tightly, her pink leopard print outfit gleaming in patches of sunlight.
She takes three steps back on our branch, muscles tensing.
The elephants continue feeding below, unaware.
Hilary locks eyes with me, grins confidently, then sprints forward.
She launches off the branch, gripping the vine as she arcs through the air.
The monkeys around us freeze, watching her trajectory toward the largest elephant.
"Hilary, what are you doing?" I shout, panic rising in my voice.
"Trust me, I've got a plan!" she calls back, her voice filled with excitement.
I grip our branch tightly, my heart pounding in my chest.
Hilary swings toward the massive elephant, her pink leopard print outfit fluttering in the wind.
The vine creaks under her weight as she gains speed.
I notice her timing each swing carefully, her eyes fixed on the elephant below.
When she reaches the highest point of her arc, directly above the largest elephant, she takes a deep breath.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Her "Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!" pierces the jungle air as she releases the vine.
Time seems to slow as she tucks her body, executing a perfect flip.
She lands gracefully on the elephant's back, her triumphant laughter echoing through the trees.
I watch her wave at me from her perch on the elephant's broad back, a challenge in her eyes.
She wants me to join her in this wild stunt.
I scan our surroundings, my gaze falling on a thick vine hanging near our branch.
I test its strength with a firm tug, then take three steps backward.
The monkeys above us chatter excitedly, sensing another daring leap.
I sprint forward, launching myself into open air.
The wind rushes past my red loincloth as I grip the vine tightly.
I swing back and forth, building momentum.
At the perfect moment, I belt out my own "Aaaah-aaaah-aaaaah!" and release the vine.
My body tucks into a tight flip, the world spinning around me.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Time seems to slow as I soar toward the elephant's back.
I complete my flip and land firmly on the elephant's broad back, my feet finding purchase on its rough skin.
Steadying myself, I carefully walk forward and lower into a sitting position facing Hilary.
The elephant continues eating, unbothered by our presence on its back.
Above us, the monkey troop chatters and moves through the branches, following our progress.
Hilary grins at me, her pink leopard outfit matching my red loincloth as we gently sway with the elephant's movements.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I feel my eyes getting heavy as the elephant's gentle swaying motion lulls me into drowsiness.
Hilary yawns beside me, her head nodding forward in her pink leopard outfit.
The afternoon sun filters through the leaves, warming our backs as we drift off.
The elephant's steady footsteps and rhythmic breathing become distant as sleep overtakes us.
We slump against each other, using the elephant's broad back as our bed.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Hours pass in peaceful slumber until morning light hits my face.
I blink awake, confused, and nudge Hilary awake.
I blink in confusion as bright sunlight hits my face.
We're still perched on the elephant's broad back.
The morning dew has dampened our leopard print outfits, and my red loincloth clings uncomfortably to my skin.
Hilary stirs beside me, her pink outfit glistening with moisture.
The elephant has wandered deep into an unfamiliar part of the jungle during our sleep.
Thick morning mist surrounds us, and strange bird calls echo through the trees.
I gently shake Hilary fully awake, pointing out the unknown territory stretching before us.
"Where are we?" Hilary asks, rubbing her eyes and glancing around nervously.
"I don't know," I reply, trying to sound reassuring despite my own uncertainty.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
I scan through the thinning mist, trying to get my bearings.
Hilary remains beside me on the elephant's back, her pink leopard outfit glistening with dew.
The strange bird calls fade as our ride pushes through the dense foliage.
Suddenly, the vegetation parts, revealing a vast clearing filled with sparkling water.
Other elephants gather at the water's edge, spraying themselves with their trunks.
Micky & Hilary:The Jungle Adventures
Our elephant trudges forward, joining its herd at the shore.
Zebras and giraffes drink from the water nearby while hippos surface in the deeper parts of the lake.
Hilary grips my arm excitedly as our elephant lowers its trunk to drink.
