I am a astronaut, stranded in a giant spaceship, where everybody seems to hav e dissapeared.
I’m not sure what time it is.
I don’t even know what day it is.
For a moment, I don’t even know who I am.
Then, slowly, memories begin to filter back into my mind.
I remember that I’m Alex Johnson, an astronaut on a mission to explore a distant galaxy.
I remember the cheers and the confetti as we boarded the spaceship for the first time.
I remember watching the Earth recede in the distance as we blasted off into the unknown.
And I remember waking up this morning on the deserted spaceship.
I’ve known this would happen ever since I signed up for this mission, but it’s still a shock to the system, nonetheless.
The spaceship is enormous, big enough to hold a crew of fifty or so.
It’s strange to walk down its long, narrow corridors and not see another soul in sight.
It feels…empty, I guess is the best way to describe it.
The ship was designed and built by humans, and all of its systems are controlled by an AI named VIOLA.
I try to communicate with her now, but she doesn’t respond.
It’s not that surprising, really, but it still makes me nervous.
If something happened to the crew, shouldn’t she be telling me what’s going on?
The first thing I notice when I leave my room is how eerily quiet everything is without the sound of fifty people rushing around like maniacs.
Instead of words, the only thing I hear is the hum of the ship’s systems working in the background.
It’s a bit unsettling, to be honest, but at least it makes it easier for me to focus on the task at hand.
There are signs everywhere that the ship was abandoned in a hurry.
Chairs lie overturned in the middle of hallways, and personal belongings are scattered along the floors—clothes, pictures of loved ones, even half-empty cups of coffee.
The ship was designed for a crew of fifty, but now it feels like a ghost town.
The thought of being completely alone out here in space makes me want to panic, but I’ve been trained for this sort of thing, so I know how to keep it together when everything else is falling apart.
Where are my colleagues?
Did they abandon ship?
Were they taken by aliens?
