Jordan

He is Emma's exboyfriend who played her false. He is deceitful, manipulative, and heartless. Jordan pretended to be interested in Emma but was only using her to get close to her. He took advantage of Emma’s trusting nature and ended their relationship when he lost interest. His true intentions were revealed when Emma met his friend, who confirmed Jordan’s scheme. Jordan showed no remorse for his actions and seemed uninterested in Emma’s wellbeing after their breakup.

Jordan's Friend

He is the man who confided in Emma about Jordan's true intentions. He is honest, perceptive, and supportive. Jordan's friend revealed to Emma that Jordan had been using her as part of a bet among his friends. He showed empathy towards Emma by warning her about Jordan’s deception and taking the blame for the breakup instead of exposing him. His loyalty to his friend was questionable when he took the fall for him, but he seemed genuinely concerned for Emma’s wellbeing.

I was 21 years old when I found out I was pregnant.
I got my period every month, so I didn't think I could be pregnant.
But I had been feeling sick and tired for weeks.
I thought it was the flu.
Then I missed my period.
I thought it was stress.
But then I went to the doctor and found out I was pregnant.
I didn't tell Jordan right away.
I wanted to make sure I wasn't.
But after a few days, my body started to change.
My breasts got bigger and more sensitive.
My stomach started to grow.
I knew I couldn't keep it a secret from Jordan for much longer.
But before I could tell him, something happened that changed everything.
Jordan and I had broken up a month ago.
But I thought we were just taking a break.
I thought we would work through our issues and get back together.
But then I met Jordan's friend and discovered the truth: Jordan had never been interested in me.
He played me false and used me to get what he wanted from me.
I was devastated when I found out, but I was relieved that I was free from him.
A few weeks later, my due date arrived, and Nia was born in a small hospital on the outskirts of town.

I invited Sarah over for coffee.
I needed to tell someone what was going on with Nia.
While I was in the kitchen preparing our drinks, I saw a pack of wolves outside my window.
They were staring at the bassinet in the living room where Nia was sleeping.
I grabbed our drinks and went into the living room.
Sarah noticed that my hands were shaking as I handed her her coffee.
"What's wrong?" she asked me.
I sat down next to her and told her everything.
Nia had been crying nonstop since she was born.
It wasn't just normal baby crying, either.
Hybrid Throne
It sounded like she was singing some ancient song that I couldn't understand.
Her eyes changed color depending on her mood, and there was a parade of animals that showed up at my house every night to look at her through the window. And then there were the wings.
Small wings had sprouted from her back, and they grew bigger every day.
Sarah's eyes widened as I told her about Nia's wings.
Then a tiger jumped onto my windowsill and started staring at Nia's bassinet.
Hybrid Throne
Sarah jumped up and spilled her coffee all over the table.
She backed away from me, shaking her head.
"This is insane," she said.
After my initial panic, I got up and walked over to Nia's bassinet.
I picked her up and cradled her in my arms.
I looked at Sarah and tried to explain.
"I know this is a lot to take in," I said.
"But I'm desperate for answers. I don't know what's going on with Nia, and I need your help."
Sarah looked at me and then at the tiger outside my window.
The tiger was still staring at Nia, its breath fogging up the glass.
Nia's crying had stopped, and she was making that strange singing noise again.
Sarah shook her head.
"I don't know what to say," she said.
"This is all so... crazy."
I sighed and sat back down on the couch with Nia in my arms.
"I know it's hard to believe," I said.
"But I'm telling you the truth. Nia is different, and I need your help to figure out why."
Sarah nodded slowly.
"Okay," she said.
"I'll do whatever I can to help you."
She pulled out her phone and started scrolling through it.
"Wait here," she said.
"I need to show you something." She walked over to me and held up her phone so I could see the screen.
She had opened her photo album, and there were pictures of a small cottage in the woods.
"This is where my grandmother lives," she said.
"She's a wise woman. She knows about these things."
I looked at the pictures, confused.
"Why would your grandmother know anything about this?" I asked Sarah.
She looked at me, surprised.
"You don't know?" she asked me.
"My grandmother helped a family once whose child could speak to spirits. She helped them understand what was going on with their daughter."
I stared at Sarah in shock.
"How did you not tell me this before?" she asked me.
"I didn't think it was relevant," I said defensively.
Sarah sighed and put away her phone. "Look, I'm not trying to be judgmental," she said gently.
"But if you're looking for answers, you need to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about. My grandmother is the only person I know who has experience with this kind of thing."
I nodded slowly, feeling a little foolish for not thinking of that before.
"Okay," I said finally.
Hybrid Throne
"I'll go talk to your grandmother. But first, can you help me figure out what's going on with Nia?"
Sarah hesitated, glancing back at the tiger still perched on the windowsill.
"I think we should leave now," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"There's something about that tiger... it's like it's waiting for us to make a move."
I quickly grabbed a bag and started packing Nia's essentials.
Sarah stood by the window, keeping watch.
The tiger was still staring at us, its eyes fixed on Nia.
As I packed, my hands shook.
I stuffed diapers, formula, and clothes into the bag as fast as I could.
Nia's crying had started again, and this time it was louder than ever before.
The sound of her wailing was like nothing I had ever heard before.
It was as if she were singing some ancient song that echoed through the house.
The lights flickered on and off, and I could feel the ground shaking beneath my feet.
I finished packing and picked Nia up from her bassinet.
Hybrid Throne
She was still crying, but now her tiny wings were fluttering against my chest. "Oh my god," Sarah said, looking out the window.
"There are more animals out there."
I looked out the window and saw a pack of wolves, a few bears, and even a mountain lion gathered in front of my house.
They were all staring at us, their eyes fixed on Nia.
"What are we going to do?" I asked Sarah.
"We can't stay here," she said.
"The animals are getting agitated. We need to get out of here before they attack."
I nodded, clutching Nia tightly in my arms.
I knew she was right; we couldn't stay here any longer.
The animals were getting more aggressive by the minute, and I didn't want to risk anything happening to Nia or me. As we walked towards the front door, I could feel the weight of their gaze upon us.
Hybrid Throne
The animals parted to let us through, forming a corridor that led straight to Sarah's car parked outside.
I buckled Nia into her car seat while Sarah started the engine.
As we drove away, I looked back through the rear window and saw the animals following us.
The wolves were running alongside the car, while the eagles soared above us.
Even the deer were keeping pace with us, darting through the trees at the edge of the road.
Nia's crying had turned into a soft humming noise that filled the car.
It was almost melodic, and I could feel its vibrations resonating through my body.
Suddenly, the GPS screen flickered and went black.
Sarah frowned and tried to restart it, but it wouldn't turn back on.
"What's going on?" she asked me.
"I don't know," I replied, looking at Nia in confusion.
Hybrid Throne
"But I think it has something to do with her."
Sarah glanced at Nia in the rearview mirror and shook her head.
"This is crazy," she said. "We'll have to navigate from memory," she said finally, gripping the steering wheel tightly.
As we continued driving, I noticed that Nia's wings were stretching against her onesie.
Her eyes were glowing amber in the fading light of day, and her humming had grown louder.
We reached a crossroads, and Sarah hesitated for a moment before turning right.
But just as we were about to pass by a large bear standing on its hind legs, it gestured with its head towards the left path.
Sarah slammed on the brakes, narrowly avoiding hitting the bear.
"Did that bear just... direct us?" Sarah asked, her voice trembling slightly.
"It looks like it," I replied, my heart pounding. "Maybe we should trust it."
Hybrid Throne
Sarah nodded, biting her lip. "Alright, here goes nothing," she said, turning the car onto the left path.
