"Turn around, Miss," the cop orders, handcuffs open in his hand.
I swallow and slowly turn.
I face the wall, my hands behind my back as he puts the cuffs on me.
I feel a pair of eyes on me.
I know that Dominic Martinez is watching me from the office window on the second floor.
He’s probably enjoying this.
The cop finishes and spins me back around.
I face him, trying to keep my chin up and my expression belligerent.
But I’m scared.
If my father finds out I was arrested, I’ll never hear the end of it.
The cop marches me out of the building and down the stairs to a waiting squad car.
He opens the back door and shoves me into the car, locking the door behind me before I can get out of his way.
I sit back and try to take a deep breath.
This is bad.
Very bad.
At least an hour passes before we get to the police station.
The cop radios ahead and lets them know I’m coming.
When we arrive, he parks and gets out, opening the back door for me.
I step out onto the pavement, keeping my chin up.
He marches me inside and up to the front desk, where a woman in a blue uniform sits.
