I was in love with my best friend.
And I had to keep it a secret.
Alex Turner was gorgeous.
He was tall (I mean, really tall. Like over a foot taller than me), with broad shoulders and thickly defined muscles.
His hair was dark and messy in the most perfect way (I often found myself wondering what it would feel like to run my fingers through it).
His eyes were a deep shade of blue that sparkled like the stars on a clear night.
But it was his smile that truly captured my heart.
It was so bright, so powerful that it forced me to look away whenever he directed it my way (lest anyone see the infatuation in my eyes).
Alex smiled at me a lot.
He smiled at me because I was his best friend.
And I had to keep it together long enough to pretend that that was all.
