The snow fell gently, casting a silence over the night.
I stood at the window of my dorm room and watched as it collected on the branches of the trees.
It looked beautiful.
I wished I could go out and feel it on my skin, but I didn’t have the time.
I had a test to study for.
A knock sounded at the door, and I turned from the window.
"Come in," I called.
The door opened, and my best friend walked in.
"Hey, what’s up?"
She dropped her bag to the floor and kicked off her shoes.
"Nothing, I’m going to study for my test tomorrow. What about you?"
"I’m good. I was just about to go for a run."
"A run? In the snow?"
"Yes. I like it. It’s nice this time of year."
"That’s true. So what’s new with you?"
"Nothing much. Oh, I saw your ex at the gym tonight."
My brow furrowed.
"What? I thought he was still out of town."
