Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth
It always warmed my heart to see my niece, Cassandra.
Even though she was the divine daughter of Hades and Persephone, queen and king of the Underworld, she always made time for me.
At least she used to.
Lately, it always seemed like a struggle to get her to visit me in my temple.
I feared that I was losing her to the other realm she belonged to.
"Cassie, dear. It's so nice to see you."
I smiled as I opened my arms.
My niece grudgingly walked into them, letting me hug her even though she never liked physical contact.
Even from a young age, she was always darkhaired with piercing eyes that seemed to see right through you.
Persephone had told me that Cassandra was introverted because she could see the past and future in people's eyes, not just their present.
That had to be a burden on a child.
"What's wrong, dear?"
I asked, looking down at her perched on my lap.
She shrugged.
"Nothing."
She never lied to me, but she didn't tell the truth either.
