I can’t believe I’m falling for my badboy dance partner.
He’s the complete opposite of everything I want in a man, but I can’t help the way I feel.
And when he looks at me with those piercing blue eyes, I know I would do anything to be with him.
But can we really make this work?
Only time will tell.
My name is Emily Carter, and I’m a professional dancer.
I have it all; the dream job, the dream boyfriend.
Or so I thought.
My new dance partner has it all; good looks, great body, talented.
But he’s a bad boy, with a troubled past and a penchant for getting into trouble.
I know I should run and run far, but I find myself drawn to him.
There’s something about him that calls to me, something that makes me want him.
Sarah Jennings, my best friend and fellow dancer in the company, says that I should give him a chance, that everyone has a past and deserves a future.
But what happens when that past comes back to haunt us?

"I can meet you at the studio at 10," Emily said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The dimly lit room was quiet, the only sound the soft hum of the air conditioner.
Lucas nodded, his eyes locked on hers.
The studio was empty, the other dancers having gone home hours ago.
But Emily and Lucas had needed to rehearse, to get their routine perfect.
They stood facing each other, their bodies tense with anticipation.
The air was thick with electricity, and Emily could feel it crackling between them.
She took a step closer to Lucas, her heart pounding in her chest.
He didn’t move, but she could see the muscles in his arms flex as he clenched his fists.
They were both breathing heavily, their chests rising and falling with each ragged breath.
Emily reached out a hand and placed it on Lucas’s chest, feeling his heart pounding beneath her fingers.
He looked down at her hand, then back up into her eyes.

Their gazes held for what felt like an eternity, neither one willing to break the tension that had been building between them for weeks now.
Finally, Lucas spoke, his voice low and husky.
"Let’s do this," he said, his eyes never leaving hers.
And with that, they began to dance.
Their bodies moved together seamlessly, as if they had been dancing together for years instead of just a few weeks.
The music was fast paced and intense, and they moved to it with precision and skill.
Emily could feel the electricity crackling between them even more now that they were moving together; it was like nothing she had ever felt before. As they danced, Emily found herself becoming more and more lost in the music and in the movement of their bodies together.
She felt alive in a way that she never had before, like she was finally doing what she was meant to do all along.
And when they finished their routine and came to a stop in front of each other, she felt like she could fly.
Lucas looked at her with a mixture of surprise and admiration in his eyes.
"You’re good," he said, his voice filled with intensity.
Emily smiled shyly, feeling a blush rise to her cheeks.
"Thanks," she said softly.
"I couldn’t have done it without you," she added, looking up at him through her lashes.
Lucas smiled back at her, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"I think you would have done just fine on your own," he said gently.
"But there's something I need to tell you," Lucas continued, his expression turning serious.
Emily's heart skipped a beat, her mind racing with possibilities.
"I didn't just come here for the dance; I came to escape," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.

Emily and Lucas sat on the floor of the studio, their breaths still coming in ragged gasps from their exertion.
The dim lights of the studio cast long shadows across their faces, making it seem like they were the only two people in the world.
Lucas looked at Emily, his eyes searching hers for answers to questions he hadn't asked.
He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again, as if reconsidering what he wanted to say.
Finally, he spoke, his voice low and cautious.
"Emily, there's something I need to know," he said, his gaze holding hers.
She shifted uncomfortably, looking away from him.
Lucas reached out and gently lifted her chin with his hand, forcing her to look back at him.
"I see the bruises," he whispered, concern etched into his words.
Emily flinched at his touch, but didn't pull away.
"Lucas, it's not what you think," Emily replied, her voice trembling slightly.
He shook his head, determination in his eyes.
"Then tell me the truth, Emily, because I can't stand seeing you hurt."

She hesitated, her mind racing with excuses she could give.
But something about the way he was looking at her made her pause.
His eyes were unwavering, his gaze holding hers like a physical touch.
She sighed, knowing that she couldn't lie to him.
"It's from a fall during practice," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas frowned, clearly not convinced.
"That's not all of it, Emily. I can see that. Tell me the truth."
She looked away, feeling a lump form in her throat.
"It's nothing, Lucas. Really."
But he persisted, his voice gentle but firm.
"Emily, please. I want to help you. But I can't if you don't tell me what's going on."
She took a deep breath, feeling a mix of emotions swirl inside of her.
Rhythm of Hearts
Fear, shame, and a hint of hope all mixed together.
"Okay," she said finally, her voice trembling.
"It's just... my ex-boyfriend. He won't leave me alone."
Lucas's jaw tightened, anger flickering in his eyes.
"He did this to you?"
Emily nodded, feeling a lump form in her throat again.
"He's been calling and texting and showing up at the studio. I've tried to ignore him but... it's getting worse."
Lucas reached out and took her hand in his, his touch warm and gentle.
"I'm sorry, Emily," he said softly.
"But I promise you don't have to deal with this alone anymore. I'll protect you." She felt a mix of emotions at his words; relief that someone finally knew what was going on, but also fear at the intensity of his promise.
She knew that Lucas wasn't someone to make idle threats; he would do whatever it took to keep her safe.
And as they sat there in the dimly lit studio, Emily felt a sense of peace wash over her for the first time in weeks.
She knew that she wasn't alone anymore, and that Lucas would be there to protect her no matter what happened next.
As they sat there in the silence of the studio, Lucas squeezed Emily's hand gently in his own.
