The doll was beautiful.
She had long, brown hair that looked like silk, and eyes that were the greenest I'd ever seen.
Her skin was smooth and creamy, and she was dressed in a pretty pink dress with lace and ribbons.
I reached out to touch her dress, and Jake slapped my hand away.
"Don’t touch it," he said.
"What’s wrong?"
I asked.
"It’s dirty," he said.
"That’s why it was left in the attic of the old mansion."
"Since when do you care about dirt?"
I asked.
"Look at your shoes."
Jake pointed to my feet.
My sneakers were covered in mud and dust from running through the woods to get to the mansion.
I looked up at the huge house in front of us.
It loomed over us, looking creepy with overgrown bushes and vines covering half of it.
