As soon as I walked through the door, I realized that my husband was going to make that possible.
He had already set the table for dinner, and he greeted me with a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey, honey. How was your day?"
I smiled and hugged him.
"It was tough, but I'm just glad to be home."
He nodded understandingly and led me to the table.
We sat down, and he served me a plate of food.
Then he sat down beside me and took my hand.
"What happened? Did someone bother you?"
I sighed and took a bite of my chicken.
"Lily Chen. She's been pushing me to finish the project faster."
"That girl," Jack said with disgust.
"I don't know why she has to be like that. I'm sure you're capable of doing a good job."
"I am. She just likes to do things her way."
"Well, you should tell her to back off," Jack suggested.
"I don't want her bothering you like that."
I smiled and squeezed his hand.
"Thank you. That means a lot to me."
He smiled back and stroked my hair.
"I'm always here for you, Erin. Anything you need."
We finished dinner, and then he helped me clean up.
After we finished, he led me to the couch and sat down beside me.
I leaned my head against his shoulder as he turned on the TV.
