I was walking down the hallway when my friends, Jessica and Rachel, stopped me.
"Emily, can I talk to you for a second?"
Jessica asked.
"Sure."
I said as I followed them to our bench in front of the cafeteria where we sat during lunch.
I was shy and I never talked about my personal life or my feelings to anyone, not even to my parents.
Then I looked at them questioningly.
"What is it?"
I asked curiously.
"You like Sarah, don't you? Confess your feelings to her. Tell her how you feel about her."
Jessica said, looking at me.
"Wh...What?"
I asked in disbelief.
"Don't be scared. I'm sure Sarah will say yes."
Jessica said as she smiled at me comfortingly while holding my hands.
"But what if she says no? I'll never talk to her again."
I cried as I looked down.
"I know you like her, Emily. You're just too scared to admit it. I'm giving you a push. You should tell her how you feel. It's okay if she says no, but what if she says yes? You'll never know until you try. Today, during lunch, you're going to talk to her."
Jessica said, looking at me.
"Okay..."
I breathed softly as I nodded my head while looking down at the floor.
I was too shy to look up and gaze into their eyes.
