"Ok, I know this sounds crazy, but I convinced Jason to go to the party tonight dressed as each other!"
I was talking to my best friend Margaret on the phone.
She screamed in excitement on the other end, "WHAT? Are you serious?"
"Yes," I laughed.
"I told him it would be fun and he agreed. We are going to do it!"
Emily, that's me, I'm a prankster.
I love playing pranks on people and especially my husband.
The best one that I ever pulled was when I put glue on his shoes while he was sleeping and then told him that his dog peed on his shoes.
He ran out of the house yelling and screaming and then he realized that it was me who did it.
I had to run and hide for three days before he could forgive me.
Today's prank is going to be mild compared to that one but still very funny.
I convinced him to dress up as Emily and I would dress up as Jason.
We were going to attend a party and see how long it would take him to figure out what I did.
We got ready, him as a woman and me as a man.
When we came out of our rooms, we both stood there looking at each other in awe.
He looked so good as a woman and I had to admit that I did a great job with the makeup and clothes.
The Prank War
I knew that I would have to make some adjustments to his walk and mannerism because he would give himself away with the way he walks and sways.
The Prank War
I guided him to the full-length mirror in our bedroom.
I positioned us side by side and he stumbled a little in his heels.
He grabbed onto my shoulder for balance.
I held up my phone, angling it to capture both of us.
His lipstick was a little bit smeared so I reached over to fix it.
He was trying to mimic my usual pose with his hand in his pocket but he wasn't doing a very good job at it.
I took a picture and the flash momentarily blinded us.
I checked the picture and his smile looked awkward but mine was perfect.
His eyebrows were drawn on too thickly and his fake eyelashes looked like they were about to fall off but still, it was a good picture.
I sent it to Margaret.
He was peering over my shoulder when I hit send.
"Delete that one," he whispered into my ear and his fake eyelashes touched my cheek.
The Prank War
"Sit," I guided him over to my vanity.
He sat down and I got to work on fixing him up.
I grabbed the tweezers and began shaping his eyebrows.
I had to thin them out a little, they were too thick and looked fake.
I carefully plucked a few hairs here and there, he winced when I pulled one too hard.
Next, I re-glued his false eyelashes on, using a little bit extra glue this time so they would stay on.
I applied a little bit of foundation to cover up his stubble and then contoured his jawline to give it a more feminine shape.
I added some highlighter to soften the lines around his eyes and mouth.
He shifted in his seat and I held his chin steady with my hand while I dusted some setting powder across his face.
I stepped back and looked at him in the mirror.
"Wow, I almost don't recognize myself," Jason said, tilting his head slightly.
The Prank War
"That's the point," I replied with a grin, "but remember, if anyone asks, you're Emily tonight."
He chuckled nervously, "And what if someone actually believes it and starts spilling secrets?"
The Prank War
"Then we have to tell them it's a joke. Come on, let's get dressed," I said, leading him to my closet.
I pulled out my favorite red cocktail dress, a strapless fitted dress with a sweetheart neckline.
I held it up to him and he looked at it warily.
"What about the other one?" he asked, pointing to the black dress that I had set aside for him.
"I think you should wear this one. It looks like it was made for you."
He took the dress from me and held it up by the hanger.
The dress was silky and smooth in his hands.
He looked at it uncertainly and then looked at me.
I took the dress from him and hung it up in the closet.
I reached around him and unzipped his pants and then undid his belt buckle.
He stepped back and held his hands out, stopping me from going further.
"I can do that part," he said nervously.
The Prank War
"Fine," I replied, stepping away from him.
I turned back around when I heard his zipper being pulled up again.
He had put on a pair of boxer briefs under his jeans and they were a tight fit on him. "Here," I handed him the dress.
He took the dress from me hesitantly and stepped into it.
The dress hugged his body in all the right places but hung loose around his hips, which was weird because Jason had wider hips than me.
It was probably because of all the squats he did at the gym, his thighs were bigger than mine too.
He tried to zip up the back of the dress but couldn't quite reach so I came over and helped him zip it up to the top of his back where I could reach it easily with my shorter arms.
His shoulders were slightly broader than mine so that's probably why it was a little bit tight there too but not so much that he couldn't get into it comfortably.
He shifted uncomfortably in front of the mirror, trying to adjust the neckline down a little bit more so that his chest wasn't showing as much but it still wasn't budging.
I grabbed some safety pins from my jewelry box and pinned some of the fabric together behind his neck, adjusting the neckline to fit better around his frame.
"Emily," he said, glancing at me through the mirror, "what if someone recognizes me despite all this effort?"
I smirked and replied, "That's why you have to act like me, remember? Just channel your inner diva."
He hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Alright, but if I start spilling secrets, it's on you."
