I was a goddess.

Even as a six-year-old, I knew that much.

After all, I was the only six-year-old I knew who could shoot laser beams from her eyes and fly using her rainbow-colored wings.

Of course, I had learned to keep those things secret from the rest of the world.

But I didn’t always succeed…

"Elara, stop playing with the lights," my manager, Mia, called from the other side of the trailer.

"Sorry, Mia!"

I called back as I made the overhead lights dance in a swirl of color.

I was a goddess of light, after all.

Even though I had learned to keep my true nature secret, I still couldn’t help but express that nature in some way.

And right now, that meant playing with lights whenever I could.

"Elara?"

Mia called again.

This time, there was a hint of warning in her voice.

Sighing, I allowed myself to swirl the lights one last time before letting them settle back into their normal pattern.

"Sorry," I murmured as I dropped back down into my chair.

Mia opened the door and walked in.

She was short compared to most adults and had sharp eyes that seemed to notice everything.
