Goblins.
In mythology, they were depicted as ugly, grotesque creatures that lived underground and were known to be mischievous thieves.
In modern times, however, goblins were a lot more attractive and a lot more dangerous.
They lived openly among humans and possessed a unique ability to take whatever they desired from someone else and give them whatever they wanted in return.
The only catch was that whatever they gave, you would eventually grow to despise it.
And whatever they took, you would eventually regret losing it.
I knew all of this because I had met a goblin before.
His name was Kim Shin, and he was the reason I was currently sitting in a small café with two reapers.
One of which was the infamous Grim Reaper, known to take the souls of those who lived too long or committed great evils.
The other was just as big and bad as the Grim Reaper, but no one knew his true identity.
I had met Wang Yeo through Kim Shin.
The two of them were friends despite being natural enemies.
A goblin and a reaper couldn’t be friends in this world without something making them change their ways.
Wang Yeo was the first reaper I had ever met.
He had been the one to guide me to the afterlife when I died.
But I didn’t make it to the afterlife.
Instead, I was brought back to the world of the living, and I had been stuck here ever since.
The door to the café swung open, and Kim Shin strode in.
He was a tall man, dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and black tie.
His long, black hair was slicked back, revealing his handsome face.
His bright red eyes scanned the room until they landed on us in the corner.
When his gaze met mine, he gave me a small smile before his eyes moved to the man sitting across from me.
Wang Yeo was dressed in a similar suit as Kim Shin, but his hair was short and spiky.
He looked like a business man, but his cold demeanor told otherwise.
His eyes were black as coal, and they seemed to suck the life out of everyone around him.
The reaper nodded at Kim Shin as he approached us.
I watched him with wide eyes, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.
Kim Shin had an aura about him that made you feel safe, but at the same time, he could be very intimidating.
As Kim Shin took a seat beside me, I realized that the true danger lay not in the goblin's power, but in the choices I would have to make.
