I sat in the small waiting room outside Dr. Michael Hayes' office and flipped through an old issue of People.
I'd read it so many times, I had most of the articles memorized.
Yet another thing to add to the long list of things I'd never experienced: a magazine subscription.
I tossed the magazine back onto the coffee table and crossed my arms over my chest.
I hated waiting.
I hated not knowing what was going to happen next.
It was a constant state for me, but in this case, I knew what was going to happen.
I'd go into his office, sit in his plush leather chair, and he'd ask me questions.
Then I'd answer them, or pretend not to know the answers.
It all depended on my mood.
Sometimes I wanted to talk about what was going on in my life, other times I didn't want to think about it.
