I sat in class next to my best friend Sarah, listening to our teacher talk about algebra.
At least, I think that's what he was talking about.
I wasn't paying much attention because my mind kept wandering to the super clinic that had recently opened up in town.
I had been thinking about it nonstop since I first heard the news.
The idea of getting a superpower through surgery was incredibly alluring.
Who wouldn't want that?
Especially someone like me who was just an average guy with no special talents or abilities.
My grades were okay, but I wasn't athletic like Mark Collins, one of my classmates.
He was constantly showing off, trying to impress Sarah by doing things like dunking the basketball during lunch.
I didn't think she was impressed, but he kept trying anyway.
The problem was that the surgery was expensive and my parents had already told me that they weren't willing to pay the hefty price tag.
Not that I could blame them, it was a lot of money for something that could be considered frivolous.
That's why I had been racking my brain trying to come up with a way to come up with the cash myself.
