Ethan
I’m not sure what the hell is happening to my body.
I can’t get an answer from my doctor about what the treatment was, why I had to have it, or why I have to keep going back for more treatments.
All I know is that it has made my body change in ways I never thought possible.
My muscles are still there, and I can still pitch a ball at ninety miles per hour, but my face has softened, my hair has grown longer, and my body has become curvier.
The biggest change of all is my breasts.
They’re huge.
I don’t know how else to describe them.
I’ve tried to hide the fact that I now have breasts from my teammates, but it’s hard when they’re as big as mine.
I’ve taken to wearing loose-fitting shirts and sweatshirts when I’m at the stadium, and I always make sure I’m showered and dressed before I leave my house.
It’s exhausting trying to keep up this charade, and all I can do is hope that one day I’ll be able to go back to being myself again.
Girl Crush
Practice is over for the day, and I’m the last one left in the locker room.
I’ve been hanging back, waiting for everyone else to leave before I shower and change.
I’m not sure why, but Mason has also hung back, pretending to organize his gear as he steals glances at me.
I’m still in my practice uniform, my compression vest digging into my chest as I sit on the bench and untie my cleats.
I finally look up at him, and he looks away quickly, like he wasn’t just staring at me.
"Mason?"
"Yeah?"
"You can go. I’ll be fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
Girl Crush
He nods and stands from his spot by his locker, but instead of walking out, he comes over to sit next to me on the bench.
I can feel his eyes on me as I pull my cleats off and set them on the floor next to me.
"I’ve noticed some things have changed about you," he says quietly.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you’ve been throwing differently. And you’re always careful when you’re moving around in here. And you haven’t showered here with us all season."
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Come on, man. You can tell me. What’s going on?"
He sounds so genuine that it breaks something in me.
I slump forward on the bench, resting my elbows on my knees as I run my hands through my hair.
My hands are shaking as I reach up and unzip my jacket. "I’ve been getting these treatments," I say quietly.
"I don’t know what they are or why I have to get them. All I know is that they’re changing me."
I pull my jacket off and let it fall to the floor next to me.
Mason gasps softly next to me as tears start streaming down my face.
"Ethan, why didn't you tell me sooner?" Mason asks, his voice filled with concern.
"I was scared, Mason. I didn’t know how anyone would react."
Girl Crush
"You’re still you, man. We’ll figure this out together."
As he says this, I feel a tingling sensation on my scalp.
I reach up to touch my hair, but Mason grabs my wrist before I can.
"Your hair," he whispers, his eyes wide with shock.
"It’s starting to…"
He trails off before he can finish, and I look up to see a warm, pulsing light coming from my dark strands.
The light casts strange shadows across the metal lockers as it grows brighter.
I jump up from the bench and sprint to the nearest mirror, watching in horror as each strand of hair begins to shimmer like fiber optic cables.
The light is so bright that it hurts my eyes, and I have to shield them with my hand.
Mason stumbles over to stand next to me, his eyes fixed on my glowing locks.
"What’s happening?"
Girl Crush
I whisper, my voice trembling with fear.
"I don’t know," he replies, his own voice barely audible.
Suddenly, the light surges even brighter, forcing us both to turn away.
I grab my jacket off the floor and try to cover my head with it, but the supernatural glow pierces right through the fabric. "Ethan," Mason breathes, his hands shaking as he fumbles for his phone in his pocket.
He pulls it out and starts recording the phenomenon unfolding before our eyes.
Girl Crush
The light continues to intensify, filling the entire locker room with an ethereal glow.
I feel like I’m being consumed by it, and I can’t help but wonder if this is some kind of supernatural punishment for keeping my secret hidden for so long.
