Unexpectedly, he discovers that he actually possesses the bloodline of the ghost clan - Ruo Bai's biological mother is a renowned alchemist from the ghost clan, and he was born to her and an immortal realm apprentice pharmacist who mistakenly entered the ghost realm. After his true background is revealed, he is pursued and attacked by the immortal realm. During his escape, he encounters various companions, uncovers the conspiracy of the immortal realm that led his father to mistakenly enter the ghost realm, and gradually learns more secrets about both the immortal and ghost realms.
I, an apprentice pharmacist in the immortal realm, was tasked with delivering medicine to the ghost realm.
Accompanied by my friends, Li Hua and Zhang Wei, we embarked on a dangerous journey through the haunted forests of the ghost realm.
The ancient enmity between the immortal and ghost realm made crossing realms a difficult task in the first place, and our adventure was not only a test of courage but also our determination to prove the worth of our sect.
The forests we traveled through were not mere landscapes; they were alive with spirits and wandering souls.
As we navigated through the woods, I carried a heavy burden of medicine, and my mind was occupied with thoughts about my journey.
As we walked silently, following the path we chose in the dark woods, I suddenly realized that it would be a long journey.
It would take us 5-6 hours to walk from Yuetian Peak to Ruijin City in the immortal realm, but who knew how long it would take us to reach the ghost realm?
I was not afraid of hardships, nor had I ever set off on such a long distance journey before.
This time, however, it would be different because my friends and I were about to cross realms.
Although it was only a few hundred meters away, it was an insurmountable barrier for mortals like us.
However, it was not that big of a challenge to me.
Not that long ago, I had discovered that there was some ghost clan bloodline hidden within me.
My father had accidentally crossed realms and ended up staying there for several years.
I ran into him by chance when I went to the ghost realm on a mission.
The last time I saw him, he told me that he needed some time to deal with some matters from their side.
He also told me that he might not be able to see me for a while because he was going to a place where his mobile phone signal might be unavailable.
Hence, my friends and I set off on this journey without any hesitation.
It was not just because we had nothing else to do; it was also because I wanted to take this opportunity to test whether or not I could cross realms like my father.
Not only was this trip important for me and my sect’s reputation, but it was also an important step in my career as a pharmacist.
It was my personal mission, given to me by my master.
Therefore, it was up to me to decide when it was time to return.
Although it was possible that we might meet with some dangers along the way, I had already prepared myself.
The ghost realm was not empty and silent, and it was filled with spirits and wandering souls.
We may not be too familiar with this place, but there was no need for us to worry because Li Hua had already turned into her silver haired form.
She looked very powerful and could easily scare away any monsters that came our way.
I could also defend myself by using my hidden weapons, although they might not be as effective.
Moreover, we had Zhang Wei, who had a wide range of experience and knew how to solve problems using his charm and wit.
As Li Hua walked in front of me, she turned back and asked, “What are you thinking about?”
I smiled as I looked at her.
Ghostblood Chronicles
I didn’t have time to answer her question as something suddenly appeared in front of us.
The vines that surrounded us suddenly shook, and a gray figure appeared in front of us.
It was one of the terrifying monsters from the Ghost Realm, covered in blood and carrying an iron chain in its hand.
It struggled as it tried to break free from the vines, but it was soon entangled by them, causing it to let out an ear piercing scream that echoed throughout the entire forest.
Li Hua quickly stepped forward and drew her sword, while Zhang Wei stood in front of me and activated his magical barrier, preparing to attack at any time.
I looked at them nervously and asked, “What should we do?”
“Don’t panic,” Li Hua said calmly as she stared at the monster in front of her.
“It’s just a ghostly creature that has been infected by some sort of poison or curse.”
“As long as it doesn’t come near us, we don’t have to worry about it.”
After she finished speaking, she turned around and continued on our way.
Zhang Wei also put down his guard and followed her.
I looked back at the monster again and realized that it was not as scary as I thought it would be.
The three of us walked slowly as we followed Li Hua.
We had to be extra careful this time, as there were monsters everywhere in the Ghost Realm, and we had no idea how long it would take for us to reach our destination.
We had already wasted too much time trying to find the right path, so we had to hurry up now.
As we continued our journey, the forest gradually turned into a vast expanse of desolate plains.
There were many tall and straight trees growing on top of the mountains, and in order to get through them, we had to climb up them.
The mountain path was narrow, and there were many obstacles in our way, so we had to climb up slowly.
It was already noon when we finally arrived at the top of the mountain.
From here, we could see that the entire Ghost Realm was surrounded by mountains, the highest of which was the Tianji Mountain.
We could also see the city, where we had been sent to deliver the medicine.
It was still very far away from us, but we could still see it clearly.
When I saw how far away we still were, I couldn’t help but sigh.
Zhang Wei patted me on the shoulder and said with a smile, “Cheer up!”
“Think of it as an adventure trip.”
Li Hua also smiled at me and said, “Yeah!Let’s go!”
I nodded my head bravely and followed them down the mountain.
As we walked down the mountain path, we suddenly heard a loud noise coming from below us.
I quickly followed the sound and saw something strange growing in the middle of nowhere.
It was a large tree with white flowers growing on its branches.
They looked like ordinary flowers, but there was something special about them.
They were glowing with a faint light, which meant that they were ghostly creatures.
I immediately took out my medicine bag and picked some of them before putting them into my bag.
With this flower in my possession, I would be able to complete my mission successfully!
Ghostblood Chronicles
I was born in the immortal realm, so I didn’t know much about the ghost realm.
The only reason why I was able to recognize these flowers was that my mother was an alchemist from the ghost clan.
When she was still alive, she had told me about these flowers.
She had also told me about my true identity back then.
I was the son of my father, an immortal realm apprentice pharmacist who had mistakenly entered the ghost realm.
He had met my mother when he was wandering around the ghost realm, and they fell in love with each other.
He had even stayed with her in the ghost realm for a long time before they finally returned to the immortal realm together.
My mother’s alchemy skills were very good; she was even more talented than most of the immortal alchemists, so she was quickly welcomed by the immortal realm.
My father also became one of the most famous immortal realm apprentice pharmacists during that time.
My father loved my mother very much, so he didn’t want to separate from her even when he knew that he couldn’t stay in the ghost realm for too long.
So, every night, he would go to the ghost realm to accompany her.
I was born because of that as well.
I grew up in the immortal realm ever since I was young.
Although my mother didn’t tell me about her true identity back then, she still loved me very much.
She took care of me carefully and made sure that I had everything that I needed.
She also taught me how to make potions and other things before telling me that I was very talented when it came to alchemy.
Because of this reason, I quickly became one of the most famous apprentice pharmacists in the immortal realm under my master’s guidance.
Many people praised me for being so incredible for being able to achieve all this at such a young age.
However, everything changed after my mother died.
When she passed away, I found a letter written by her among her belongings.
In the letter, she told me about my true identity and what had happened when my father met her back then.
She also told me that my birth was forbidden in the immortal realm because my parents were from two different realms.
I didn’t know how my father managed to hide this matter for so many years, but I could tell from my stepmother’s reaction that it wasn’t good.
She immediately went to find my father after she read the letter, and she asked him to send me to the ghost realm after she found out about my true identity.
My father didn’t want to do it at first, but she told him that she would tell everyone in the immortal realm about his secret if he didn’t do as she said, so he had no choice but to agree with her.
He looked very apologetic when he came to see me, and he told me to go to the ghost realm to complete a mission for him.
At that time, I didn’t know why he changed his mind all of a sudden, but I still agreed to do it without asking any questions.
I decided to complete this mission because I wanted to be like my parents.
I wanted to be able to meet my master and become a famous pharmacist like them.
Ghostblood Chronicles
However, I quickly found out that it was impossible for me to obtain a permit to enter the ghost realm even if I wanted to.
The permits were very expensive, and someone like me could never afford it.
As for why they were so expensive, it was because only those who had a permit were allowed to enter the ghost realm legally.
Those who tried to enter without a permit would be attacked by both realms if they were discovered.
There were many people who were killed while trying to cross the boundary line between these two realms.
Although there were some people who managed to survive and reach their destination, they would be killed as soon as they entered the ghost realm because they didn’t have a permit.
The two realms had been fighting with each other for many years, so they didn’t want anyone from the other realm to enter their territory.
If we wanted to obtain a permit, we would need to go through a lot of tests first.
We would also need to get permission from both realms before we could even apply for one.
It was a long and complicated process, so it would take many years for us to get one.
That was why the permits were very expensive.
No one would want to sell them for a low price, even to their own family members.
I thought about giving up when I found out that it would be impossible for me to get one, but I changed my mind after hearing a rumor that there was an entrance to the ghost realm that didn’t have any guards nearby.
Since no one was guarding it, we would be able to enter the ghost realm without any problem as long as we were able to find it.
I knew that it was very dangerous, but I didn’t have any other choice at that time, so I decided to give it a try.
Some people said that the ghost realm was too dangerous and that it would be impossible for us to survive if we entered without a permit, while others said that they had successfully entered it and managed to return safely.
I didn’t know which one was telling the truth, so I decided to ask Li Hua and Zhang Wei to come with me when I saw them arguing about this matter.
Li Hua was very happy to accept my invitation because she wanted to look for her sister in the ghost realm as well, while Zhang Wei thought that he wouldn’t be able to get a permit either even if he wanted to, so he agreed to come with us in the end.
We packed our bags and left the immortal realm early in the morning after we made up our minds.
It took us a long time to find the entrance to the ghost realm even though we already knew where it was located, and I thought that we would never be able to find it when the sun started to set.
It was about to get dark when we finally arrived at the boundary line between these two realms.
We were very happy to see it at first, but we quickly realized that no one was guarding it when we got closer to it.
I thought that something bad had happened at first when I saw the boundary line because there were many immortals and ghosts guarding it every time I came here in the past.
Ghostblood Chronicles
Zhang Wei said that the ghost realm was too big for them to cover all of its area even though they had a lot of troops, so they could only guard some important places while leaving the rest of them unguarded.
I didn’t know if what he said was true or not, but I knew that they wouldn’t leave the entrance unguarded for no reason, so I became very cautious after hearing his explanation and decided to scout the area first before entering the ghost realm.
I asked Li Hua and Zhang Wei to wait for me near the boundary line before leaving them alone.
Li Hua seemed a little unhappy when she heard what I said, but she didn’t say anything in the end and agreed to follow my order while Zhang Wei started laughing after she left me alone.
He said that there wasn’t anyone guarding the entrance because they were too busy fighting against each other on the other side of the boundary line.
I didn’t know if what he said was true or not, but I decided to ask Li Hua about it when we met again later on anyway.I asked her about this matter after we met again later on, but she didn’t say anything when she saw me standing in front of her and just walked past me without stopping at all.
She was very angry at me when she found out that I was using my special ability to see through her clothes because she thought that I was trying to take advantage of her, so she decided to ignore me and pretend that she didn’t know me at all.
I quickly apologized to her when she turned around and looked at me.
She forgave me after hearing my explanation and even told me that what Zhang Wei said was true when I asked her about it again.
She said that they wouldn’t leave the entrance unguarded if there was nothing wrong at all because they had experienced similar incidents many times in the past.
They would send some troops to guard it even if they were too busy fighting against each other at that time because it was too dangerous for them to leave it unguarded.
She said that they would only leave it unguarded if they were fighting against each other on both sides of the boundary line because they would be able to attack us easily even if we managed to enter the ghost realm before they noticed us.
It was almost impossible for us to survive if they attacked us because they had a lot of troops while we only had three people.
It was very dangerous for us to enter the ghost realm under such circumstances, but we decided to give it a try anyway because we already came all the way here.
We ventured deeper into the ghost realm while we were talking about this matter, and were able to reach our destination safely since no one was around to stop us along our way.
It was about to get dark when we arrived at the place where the herb we were looking for was located, so we quickly looked around after we put down our bags and prepared ourselves in case there was anyone around who wanted to attack us.
We weren’t able to find anything at first when we looked around, but we quickly realized that we were standing on top of a hill when Li Hua opened his map and looked at it carefully.
The herb we were looking for was located near this hill according to his map, so we quickly looked around again after he told us about this matter and were able to find it soon since we already knew where it was located now.
We quickly collected some herbs after we found them, but were ambushed by a group of ghost cultivators who suddenly appeared out of nowhere while we were busy collecting herbs.
They shouted “Die!”
Ghostblood Chronicles
from afar while we were still trying to figure out what was going on with these ghost cultivators because we didn’t know how to communicate with them at all.
I was in the middle of making sure that nothing went wrong with Li Hua’s harvest when Zhang Wei suddenly shouted “Ruo Bai!” from behind me.
I quickly turned around after hearing his voice and realized that a group of ghost cultivators was running towards us while I was looking at him.
They seemed to be the ghost cultivators who attacked the entrance before since all of them had the same black armor and red cloak on them.
There was also a large number of them that was several times larger than the number of troops they sent to attack the entrance.
It was about twenty to thirty thousand ghost cultivators in total even though I only counted them for a moment because they were already standing right in front of us by the time I was done counting them.
I wasn’t able to count them accurately because there was too many of them and I was also feeling very dizzy when I tried to focus on them because it felt like my head would explode if I continued doing so for another second.
I tried to look at them again after I took a short break to rest my eyes, but wasn’t able to see anything at all anymore because everything turned blurry before my eyes even though I already stopped focusing on them.
I quickly looked away and tried to remember what I was going to do while I was still able to think clearly, and realized that the ghost cultivators were running towards us with hostile intent before I could remember what it was.
They seemed to be aiming for the herb we were collecting since they were already standing right in front of us before I even managed to figure out what was going on with them.
I was about to shout “Get away from here!” at the ghost cultivators when I realized that it was too late for me to do so since they already saw us and knew where we were before I did anything at all.
I quickly summoned my martial spirit after I was done thinking about this matter, and was able to summon a giant ape whose height was over three meters in a few seconds since I already knew how to do so.
The ghost cultivators charged at us as soon as we summoned our martial spirits, but we quickly stood in front of them and prepared ourselves to repel their attack while Li Hua harvested more herbs behind us.
The giant ape I summoned stood right in front of me while Zhang Wei walked towards the left side of the giant ape and held his long spear with both hands, and then pointed it at the ghost cultivators who were charging at us after he was done preparing himself properly so that he could attack them easily when they arrived.
It seemed like he was an expert at using a long spear based on how he attacked the ghost cultivators with it after he pointed it at them because he was able to knock down five or six ghost cultivators in a row without any difficulty at all.
Ghostblood Chronicles
I was only able to knock down two ghost cultivators with my martial spirit during the time he was able to do so because I didn’t know how to use a martial spirit properly yet, so I could not attack the ghost cultivators properly with the martial spirit I summoned since the martial spirit was only able to knock down the ghost cultivators I wanted to attack when they charged at us and got too close to the martial spirit.
The ghost cultivators were starting to fall back after they realized how powerful we were and how difficult it was to defeat us, so I quickly thought of a plan to catch them before they could flee and the plan was to attack them with the martial spirit I summoned while Zhang Wei attacked them with his long spear so that we could easily catch up to them once they started running away from us since I didn’t want them to escape so easily after they tried to steal the herb we were collecting from us.
I quickly told Zhang Wei about my plan as soon as I thought of it, and he quickly agreed to do it after he listened to me and then started walking towards the place where the ghost cultivators were standing before they started fleeing after he was done preparing himself properly to attack them with his long spear, while I started attacking them with the martial spirit I summoned and tried to catch them after he was done walking towards them because they were already fleeing when I was done preparing myself to attack them with the martial spirit I summoned.
I felt like the ghost cultivators were trying to flee so that they could lure us into a trap when they started running away from us since they were fleeing too easily, so I quickly shouted “Wait!” at Zhang Wei and told him what I thought of them after he stopped attacking the ghost cultivators with his long spear when I was done talking because he listened to me and believed in what I thought of them after I told him about my thoughts on them.
I told Zhang Wei that we should go back to where Li Hua was instead of chasing the ghost cultivators since we didn’t know what was waiting for us if we tried to chase them since we didn’t know anything about this place at all, and he could not do anything but agree with what I told him since it was the only reasonable thing we could do when he realized that we didn’t know anything about this place at all, and that it would be dangerous for us if we tried to chase the ghost cultivators since there might be something dangerous waiting for us if we did so.
We turned around after we finished talking about what we should do next and started walking towards Li Hua after we did so, but we were knocked down to the ground by an explosion of spiritual energy before we could reach him because someone attacked us with it.
I quickly stood up from the ground after I was done thinking about this matter and saw an immortal realm cultivator who had a powerful spiritual energy surrounding his body and an angry look on his face standing right in front of us with a few immortal realm cultivators who seemed to be following his orders behind him before they could attack us again because they were already standing right in front of us since we were not able to see anything properly after someone attacked us before I managed to stand up from the ground and see everything clearly.
The leader of the immortal realm cultivators seemed to be a muscular man who had a scar on his left cheek with short hair and looked to be in his early thirties based on how he looked like and was wearing a black robe which seemed to be very simple and didn’t have any decorations or patterns at all while his subordinates were wearing similar black robes and looked to be around their late twenties.
Ghostblood Chronicles
He quickly walked towards me while emitting spiritual energy from his body after he walked out from the forest surrounding us and said “So you have finally revealed your true colors now that you have nowhere to escape to!”, so I quickly asked him “Who are you?Why are you chasing us?” before he could attack me since I didn’t know why he was chasing after us and wanted to know more about him before doing anything else.
The immortal realm cultivator answered my question by saying “I am Huo Wuyu, and I am here to capture you since you are not allowed to leave this place!”, so I quickly asked him “Why can’t we leave this place?” after he told me why he came here since I thought that it would be impossible for us to leave this place if he didn’t want us to leave it at all when he said that we could not leave this place.
Huo Wuyu quickly answered my question by saying “It is forbidden for rogue immortals such as yourselves to enter the ghost realm!”, so I quickly said “We are just passing through this place since we need to collect some herbs from this place!”, but he didn’t believe what I told him at all since he started laughing after I said this and said “I don’t care why you are here at all!You are still not allowed to leave this place!”, so Li Hua immediately took out a sword from his back and got ready to attack him when he said this since he knew that Huo Wuyu wouldn’t let us go no matter what we said or did at all.
I also took out my sword from my back and got ready to attack him with Li Hua after he started laughing because I knew that it would be impossible for us to leave this place without fighting Huo Wuyu at all no matter what we did or said at all, and Zhang Wei also took out a long spear from his back and got ready to attack him as well for the same reason as us after he saw us taking out our swords from our backs and getting ready to attack him.
But Huo Wuyu didn’t give us any chance to attack him at all when he saw that we were getting ready to attack him since he immediately yelled “Get them!Don’t let them escape!” when he saw that we were getting ready to attack him with Li Hua and Zhang Wei, so his subordinates immediately charged at us when he yelled at them and attacked us with their swords as soon as they reached us.
Zhang Wei quickly swung his long spear towards one of the immortal realm cultivators who attacked Li Hua and got thrown back by it before he could land a hit on him when they charged at us, but another immortal realm cultivator immediately appeared behind him and attacked him with another sword as soon as he landed on the ground after he got thrown back by Zhang Wei’s long spear before Li Hua appeared in front of Zhang Wei and blocked it with his sword when he saw this.
I also appeared in front of Li Hua and Zhang Wei after I saw that they got attacked by the immortal realm cultivators when they charged at us with my dual swords, so I blocked an attack from another immortal realm cultivator who appeared in front of me with them as well before I kicked him back with my right foot and cut off another immortal realm cultivator’s head with my left sword after he tried to attack me again with another sword.
Zhang Wei also managed to stab another immortal realm cultivator who tried to attack him after Li Hua blocked the previous immortal realm cultivator’s attack with another long spear in the chest with his long spear after Li Hua blocked another attack from the immortal realm cultivator’s sword with his sword when I was done thinking about this matter, so they immediately retreated after they saw that their attacks were not working at all.
Huo Wuyu quickly said “Don’t let them escape!” after he saw that the immortal realm cultivators’ attacks were not working at all, so one of the immortal realm cultivators immediately shot a ball of fire towards us after he said this which exploded into a fireball when it hit the ground in front of us.
“I’ll create an opening for you!Go!”
I yelled at Li Hua and Zhang Wei after I saw the fireball flying towards us and created a few illusions of myself when it landed on the ground in front of me before I charged at him with them while using my dual swords to cut off any attacks which came towards me from the other immortal realm cultivators who were watching me charge at him with the illusions of myself that I created earlier.
Li Hua and Zhang Wei quickly took this chance to run away from the immortal realm cultivators who were watching me charge at him with the illusions of myself that I created earlier since they knew that this was the only chance for them to escape from them when they saw me creating a few illusions of myself and charging at him before I killed one of them who tried to chase after them with my dual swords, so they immediately ran away from them before another immortal realm cultivator appeared behind them and tried to attack them with his long spear.
Ghostblood Chronicles
Li Hua then used his long spear to block his attack after he saw him trying to attack him with his long spear, so Zhang Wei immediately ran away from him when they saw him using his long spear to block his attack before Li Hua used it to stab him in the chest only for another immortal realm cultivator who appeared behind them and tried to punch him, so I immediately kicked him back with my left foot and killed him with my dual swords when I saw him trying to punch him.
Huo Wuyu looked at us with an annoyed expression after I killed him, so he said “You guys are really annoying!” before he used his dual swords to send multiple wind waves towards us which blocked our path of retreat when he was done talking.
“I’ll stop him!You guys go!”
Zhang Wei said this before he threw his long spear towards Huo Wuyu who used his dual swords to block it when it reached him, but he was then kicked back by Li Hua who charged at him with his long spear before I threw my dual swords towards him as well and created a few illusions of myself.
Huo Wuyu then blocked my dual swords with his dual swords and retreated away from it when I charged at him before I tried to kick him only for him to kick me back with his left foot, but I then used my right foot to kick him back and create an opening for me to punch him in the chest which sent him flying backwards.
Huo Wuyu then charged at me again after he landed on the ground before I tried to punch him only for him to kick me in the chest with his right foot and send me flying backwards, but I then created multiple illusions of myself and charged at him again before I used my dual swords to block an attack from him which was aimed at my head.
Huo Wuyu then tried to kick me in the chest with his right foot again after I blocked his attack with my dual swords, but I managed to block it with my right sword this time before I tried to stab him with my left sword, but he managed to block my attack with his dual swords only for me to punch him in the chest with my left hand which made him cough out blood from his mouth.
Huo Wuyu then tried to punch me in the chest only for me to grab his arm with my left hand before I used my right hand to punch him in the chest which made him cough out blood from his mouth, but he managed to use his dual swords to stab me in the chest and get free from my grasp before he flew backwards and grabbed his dual swords which were thrown out of his hands by Zhang Wei earlier.
Huo Wuyu looked at us with an annoyed expression after we managed to wound him when he was charging at us earlier, so he said “I told you guys that you can’t defeat me!Impostor!”
Huo Wuyu then charged at me with his dual swords again, but I managed to use the spirit energy that I absorbed earlier to create a martial spirit of an ape and stop him by punching him with it which sent him flying backwards, so I charged at him with it and tried to punch him again, but he managed to block my attack with his dual swords only for the ape that I created earlier to try to punch him with its other hand again which sent him flying backwards again.
Huo Wuyu then looked at the ape that I created earlier and tried to charge at it again, but I managed to use it to grab his dual swords and stab him with them which made him cough out blood from his mouth, but he managed to use the spirit energy that he absorbed earlier and create a few wind waves of his own which destroyed the ape that I created earlier and sent the pieces of it flying towards me before he charged at me, so I used them as cover and flew towards him while using my dual swords to cut off any attacks that came towards me from the immortal realm cultivators again.
