I sat in class staring at the two girls who sat on either side of me.
Aurora Navarro, the class president with her long blonde hair and sharp features.
Cassandra Park, the bad girl with her short black hair and rebellious attitude.
Both beautiful in their own ways, yet couldn't be more different.
Both hated each other and I was stuck right in the middle.
It had been two years since my father died in the military and my mom and I moved to this new town for a fresh start.
Little did we know that it wasn't as fresh of a start as we thought.
This town had a whole other side to it, one that only came out at night and that side was full of vampires and witches.
Bloodlines of Love
I had been watching the two girls for a while now and I knew that they were hiding something.
They would always talk in hushed whispers, always looking around to make sure no one was listening.
I had tried to listen in on them a few times but they were too quick and would stop talking as soon as they saw me coming.
But today was different, today I heard something.
I was sitting at my desk staring at the two girls when I heard Aurora whisper something to Cassandra.
I couldn't make out what she said but Cassandra's response was enough to make my heart race.
"I'll see you tonight," she whispered back.
My eyes darted back and forth between the two girls, wondering what they were talking about.
Bloodlines of Love
Aurora stood up and walked out of the room, leaving me staring at Cassandra.
She looked over at me and smiled before turning back to her work.
I knew right then and there that I had to follow her tonight, I had to know what she was talking about.
I didn't know what to expect but I knew it wasn't going to be good.
As night fell I snuck out of my house, careful not to wake my mom.
I found Cassandra waiting at the edge of the woods, her eyes glowing with an intensity that made me shiver.
"You shouldn't be here," she said, her voice a mix of warning and something else I couldn't quite place.
"Why not?" I challenged, trying to keep my voice steady. "What are you and Aurora planning?"
Bloodlines of Love
Cassandra's eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched.
"You don't know what you're talking about," she growled.
I stood my ground, defiant.
Cassandra's eyes softened for a moment, then hardened again.
"You don't understand," she insisted.
I clenched my fists, frustration boiling inside me.
"I have a right to know," I argued, my voice firm.
Cassandra sighed deeply, her eyes darting back and forth between me and the dark woods behind her.
Bloodlines of Love
She was torn, I could see it in her eyes.
Torn between her loyalty to her coven and the feelings she had for me.
"I can't tell you," she finally said, "it's not safe."
I took a step forward, my heart racing with anticipation.
"Try me," I urged.
Cassandra hesitated for a moment before looking away, her eyes drifting towards the dark woods.
The shadows seemed to move of their own accord, shifting ominously in the wind.
"It's dangerous," she finally admitted, her voice low and husky.
I felt a shiver run down my spine at the sound of her voice, mixed with fear and excitement.
I took another step forward, my eyes locked on hers.
"I'm not afraid," I declared.
Bloodlines of Love
Cassandra's eyes flickered with something, something I couldn't quite place.
She sighed deeply, her shoulders falling in defeat.
"Fine," she relented, her voice barely above a whisper.
I felt a surge of excitement at her words, my heart racing with anticipation.
Cassandra glanced around the dark woods, her eyes scanning the shadows.
"Follow me," she finally said, turning and walking into the darkness.
I followed her, my senses on high alert as we walked deeper into the forest.
The trees loomed above us, their branches creaking ominously in the wind.
Bloodlines of Love
We stopped at a clearing, moonlight casting eerie patterns on the ground.
Cassandra turned to me, her eyes flashing with warning.
"There's a meeting tonight," she whispered, "a coven meeting."
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest.
"What does that have to do with anything?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Cassandra's eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched in frustration.
"You're not listening," she growled.
I frowned, confused.
"I am," I argued.
Cassandra sighed deeply, looking away for a moment before turning back to me.
"It's not safe," she finally said, "you should go home."
"I can't just leave," I insisted, my voice firm.
Cassandra hesitated, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and determination.
"If you stay, you'll learn the truth about your father," she revealed, her voice barely a whisper.
Bloodlines of Love
I felt a jolt of shock at her words, my eyes darting to hers.
"What do you know about my father?" I demanded, my voice firm.
Cassandra hesitated, looking away for a moment before turning back to me.
"Come with me," she finally said, turning and walking into the darkness.
I followed her, my heart pounding in my chest.
We walked deeper into the woods, the air growing colder with each step.
I could feel it in my bones, something was coming.
Something big.
Bloodlines of Love
Cassandra moved swiftly, her eyes darting back and forth as she scanned our surroundings.
I followed her silently, my senses on high alert.
Suddenly we heard voices ahead, low murmurs that sent a chill down my spine.
Cassandra paused, her expression tense.
"Stay close," she whispered urgently, her eyes locked on mine.
I nodded, feeling a mix of fear and excitement.
We crept forward silently, the voices growing louder as we approached a hidden clearing deep in the woods.
Cloaked figures gathered around a flickering fire, their faces obscured by shadows and hoods.
I recognized Aurora instantly, her gaze sharp and commanding as she stood at the head of the group.
Cassandra leaned in, her voice barely audible over the crackling fire.
"Your father was one of them," she confessed, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and urgency.
My heart skipped a beat, disbelief mingling with the cold night air.
Bloodlines of Love
Cassandra tightened her grip on my hand, her eyes filled with urgency.
"You need to see this," she whispered, pulling me closer to the gathering.
The cloaked figures chanted softly, their voices blending with the crackling fire.
Aurora stood at the center, her gaze piercing through the shadows.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I watched her, my heart pounding in my chest.
Suddenly a symbol etched into the ground caught my eye, something familiar that sent a jolt of shock through me.
I stared at it, confusion and anger boiling inside me.
"What is this?"
Bloodlines of Love
I demanded, turning to Cassandra.
She hesitated for a moment before answering.
"It's a summoning circle," she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper.
I frowned, staring back at the symbol.
It was similar to one my father once showed me, something he claimed was evil.
My eyes darted to Aurora, who stood at the center of the circle.
"What are you doing?"
I growled, taking a step forward.
Cassandra grabbed my arm, holding me back.
"You can't interfere," she warned.
I glared at her, trying to shake off her grip.
"Why not?"
I demanded.
"Because your father is the one they're summoning."
Bloodlines of Love
I broke free from Cassandra's grip, charging into the circle.
The chanting stopped abruptly as I stood in the center, my heart pounding with anger and betrayal.
Aurora's eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly regained her composure.
She raised her hand, signaling the cloaked figures to halt their chanting.
The air was thick with tension as I stood defiantly in the center of the circle.
"Stop this madness!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the clearing.
Aurora stepped forward, her expression a mix of frustration and determination.
"You don't understand," she said, her voice firm.
Bloodlines of Love
I glared at her, my jaw clenched in anger.
"Then explain it to me," I demanded, my voice unwavering.
Aurora sighed, her eyes softening slightly.
"Your father isn't who you think he is," she revealed, her words hanging heavily in the air.
Bloodlines of Love
I hesitated, my anger momentarily replaced with curiosity.
"What do you mean?"
I finally asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Aurora shifted uncomfortably, her eyes darting to the cloaked figures behind her.
They shifted uneasily, their whispers filling the silence.
Cassandra stood beside me, her loyalty evident despite the tension between us.
Aurora took a deep breath before speaking.
"The ritual isn't meant to harm your father," she said, her voice steady but laced with urgency.
Bloodlines of Love
"It's meant to protect this town from a greater threat."
I frowned, confusion mingling with the anger inside me.
"What kind of threat?"
Aurora hesitated, her eyes locked on mine.
"One that will destroy everything we hold dear unless we stop it."
I stared at her, disbelief and skepticism swirling inside me.
Cassandra stepped forward, her eyes pleading with me to trust them.
"Just this once," she whispered urgently.
I glared at her, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me.
Part of me wanted to believe them, but another part knew better than to trust vampires.
I looked back at Aurora, who stood frozen in anticipation.
