My crush and I were trapped in a closet during a school lockdown. The lockdown lasted four hours. We had to wait there for the whole duration.
Emily Carter
high school student, friends with Alex and has a crush on him, petite with curly brown hair, shy but witty.
Alex Thompson
high school student, friends with Emily and unaware of her feelings, tall with short black hair, outgoing and protective.
Sarah Jennings
mutual friend of Emily and Alex, not directly involved in the crush but supportive of both.
The bell had just rung for third period when the announcement crackled through the intercom, sending a wave of confusion and concern rippling through the hallway. "This is a lockdown. Please proceed to the nearest secure location." My heart skipped a beat as I glanced at Alex, who was standing next to me by our lockers. His eyes met mine with a mix of surprise and determination.
"Come on, Em," he said, grabbing my hand without hesitation. We dashed down the corridor, weaving through clusters of students until we found an empty supply closet. The door clicked shut behind us, plunging us into semi-darkness. My heart pounded in my chest, not just from the sudden sprint but from the proximity of Alex in this confined space.
As we settled onto the dusty floor, I tried to calm my racing thoughts. The silence was thick, broken only by the distant murmur of voices and the occasional creak of the building settling. Alex shifted beside me, his shoulder brushing against mine, sending a jolt of electricity through me.
"Well," he said with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood, "this is one way to skip math class."
I laughed softly, grateful for his attempt at humor despite the tension in the air. "Yeah, not exactly what I had in mind for today."
