I remember the first time I knew I was different.
I was in the fourth grade and a new girl named Samantha had moved into town.
She was beautiful and kind, and I remember being so drawn to her.
At the time, I didn't know that my feelings for her were because I was gay.
All I knew was that I wanted to be around her all of the time.
I wanted to make her happy, and I would have done anything to see her smile.
As I look back now, I realize that I was in love with her.
Of course, being twelve years old and not knowing anything about sexuality, I didn't act on any of my feelings.
I just went about being my usual self.
Samantha and I became good friends, and that's where it ended.
Looking back now, it seems silly to think that one could keep one's true feelings hidden from oneself for so long.
