I remember the day I met her like it was yesterday.
It was my first day at work and everyone was being very nice in that fake way people are when they don't know you.
I felt like the new kid at school, except I was twenty-five and unemployed for too long, so I had no choice but to put up with whatever crap they threw my way.
And then I saw her.
Standing by the copier with a stack of papers in her hand, talking to one of the other secretaries.
When our eyes met for the first time I had to catch my breath.
It wasn't because of how beautiful she was, although she was.
Long blonde hair cascading down her back, blue eyes looking like the ocean on a hot summer day, lips plump and pink, wanting to be kissed.
It was because I knew this woman.
I'd never seen her before in my life, but I felt like I'd known her since the day I was born.
My grandmother used to tell me stories about reincarnation, people meeting again in different lives when they had unfinished business.
I never put much stock into it until that moment.
As I looked into her eyes I could feel all the emotions of all the lives we'd lived together flooding through me.
