I closed the door behind me and stood in front of Ryujin's desk.

"What is it?" I asked.

"You missed health check day," said Ryujin, still looking at the papers.

"Oh, sorry," I said, feeling embarrassed.

"I need to weigh you and measure your waist," said Ryujin, looking up at me.

"Okay," I said, not knowing what to say.

I didn't know why Ryujin needed to weigh me and measure my waist herself.

I thought maybe it was part of my job.

Ryujin got up from her chair and walked towards the digital scale that was placed next to her mahogany desk.

I walked towards the scale hesitantly.

My hands were fidgeting with the hem of my blouse.

Ryujin gestured for me to take off my shoes.

I slipped off my shoes and stood in front of the scale in my stockinged feet.

The floor of Ryujin's office was made of wood and it was cold.

I shivered a little because of the cold floor.

I had eaten two pastries from the package Ryujin had sent me this morning for breakfast, so I was afraid I might have gained weight.

Ryujin was standing behind me.

Her tall frame towered over me.

She was close enough for me to feel her breath on my skin.

"Chaeryeong, there's something you need to know," Ryujin said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

"What is it?" I asked, my curiosity piqued by her sudden change in demeanor.

"The pastries were a test," Ryujin admitted, her eyes meeting mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.

Standing on the scale, I felt Ryujin's presence behind me grow even more intimate as she leaned forward to read the numbers.

The digital display glowed brightly, revealing a weight of 52.3kg.

Two kilos more than last month.

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment at the realization.
