struggling comedian and clown,diagnosed with mental health issues,isolated and misunderstood by society. He is friends with Sophie Dumond. Thin with a pale complexion,unkempt hair,and a perpetual smile that hides his pain. Desperate yet charismatic.
Murray Franklin
cynical latenight talk show host who mocks Arthur on live television. He represents the harsh reality of society's cruelty. Tall and wellgroomed with a sharp jawline and piercing blue eyes that exude confidence. Sarcastic and manipulative.
Penny Fleck
Arthur's mother who suffers from dementia in a nursing home. Her past actions have contributed to Arthur's current state. Frail with silver hair and sunken eyes that reflect her lost memories. Fragile yet loving.
I’m sitting in my apartment, staring at the television as Murray Franklin mocks me on live television.
The audience laughs and jeers at me, and I feel their weight bearing down upon me.
I feel like I’m drowning in this sea of despair, and I know that I’m about to go under.
I look over to my side and see that Sophie is sitting there, holding my hand.
She squeezes it gently as Murray tears into me, and I feel a warmth spread through my body.
I look into her green eyes, and I feel myself falling into them.
I know that I’m going insane, but at least I have her to keep me company.
"Arthur, what do you think about Murray Franklin?"
The camera is in my face, and I can feel my mind snapping.
I look into the camera and smile, my eyes flashing with insanity.
"I think that Murray Franklin is a very funny man."
I look over to Sophie and see that she’s smiling back at me.
