“James McGregor, CEO of McGregor Industries, has passed away…” I turned off the TV, unable to listen. I had been at his side in his final moments. For three years, I worked as Mr. McGregor’s personal assistant. He was more than a boss; he was like a father to me. Now, the company is in the hands of James McGregor Jr., the son of my boss. I had never quite taken a liking to this man, but he has taken an interest in me...
I worked side by side with the late James McGregor, CEO of McGregor Industries, for three years before he succumbed to his illness.
During those years, I got to know Mr. James very well and vice versa.
He treated me as if I was his own daughter, whom he had never had.
I was the one who helped him with almost everything in the company and outside as well.
The staff respected me and obeyed my orders because they knew how close I was to their boss.
I had also gotten very fond of him and treated him as the father I never had.
He would often call me into his office just to talk about life.
He was a very wise man who had lived a good portion of his life and therefore had seen and experienced many things, some of which he would share with me.
His sharp eyes and wide smile would light up whenever he saw me walk into his office.
"Emily, my dear," he would greet me with his warm voice.
"Come have a seat."
I would smile widely as I took one of the chairs in front of his desk.
His silver hair would be well-combed back, revealing a clean and prominent forehead overgrown with thick eyebrows the same color as his hair.
