The first time I saw SCP-096, I was terrified.
The second time, I was fascinated.
The third time, I was determined.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it since then.
But now, as I stand in the containment chamber with my team and watch it tear through the steel walls like they’re made of paper, all I can think is:
Oh shit.
"Oh shit," Captain Mark Jensen says from beside me, echoing my thoughts.
"Containment team to Site-███. We have a breach. Repeat: we have a breach."
He raises his voice to be heard over the alarms blaring through the facility.
"This is not a drill. All personnel evacuate immediately."
He turns to me and Agent Sarah Lee, who’s standing on my other side.
I remember the first time I saw SCP-096.
A rush of cold air and snowflakes followed it into the building, swirling around its massive form.
The storm outside was raging.
Visibility was down to a few feet, and the wind was howling through the trees like a wild animal.
It was the perfect day for SCP-096 to escape and wreak havoc on the world outside.
But it wasn’t going to get that chance.
"Containment breach!" someone yelled as alarms blared through the facility.
I bolted upright from my desk and stared at the monitor, where SCP-096 had just appeared in one of the hallways.
There was a security team on its tail, but it was moving too fast for them to catch up.
In seconds, it disappeared around a corner and out of sight.
"Shit," I said, grabbing my coat and running for the door.
Captain Jensen and Agent Lee were with me before I reached the hallway.
"What’s going on?"
Jensen asked as we hurried through the corridors toward the containment area.
"Containment breach," Lee said.
"SCP-096."
I blanched.
"Are you sure?"
She nodded grimly.
"The security cameras caught it on tape. It’s moving down the south corridor."
We skidded to a halt at the end of the hallway just in time to see SCP-096 smash through the wall like it was made of paper.
The security team tried to stop it, but they were too slow.
SCP-096 was faster and stronger than any human being, and it quickly outpaced them.
It moved like a whirlwind, tearing through the walls and corridors without slowing down at all.
People were screaming and running in every direction, trying to get out of its way before it tore them apart with its razor-sharp claws and teeth.
It was like something out of a nightmare, and it was headed straight for us.
I don’t know if Jensen and Lee could see it, but I could.
I could see its face, twisted in rage and agony, as it came toward us like a freight train.
Jensen grabbed my arm and pulled me back just as SCP-096 crashed through the security doors and into the hallway where we were standing.
The doors were supposed to be able to withstand a direct hit from a tank, but SCP-096 tore through them like they were made of cardboard, not even slowing down as it went.
"Fuck," someone yelled over the comm system.
"Those things are supposed to be reinforced."
"Close the doors," Lee said, pulling out her phone and tapping a few buttons.
A second later, the heavy steel doors slammed shut with a resounding boom, trapping SCP-096 on the other side.
