My company is located in one of the biggest tech cities in the world, a place where technology is the most advanced in the world.
The city is filled with the latest flying cars, and at night, the city is filled with neon lights.
We’re an AI company on the forefront of artificial intelligence development, and we’re on the very top floor of a skyscraper that touches the clouds.
I am one of the top programmers in the company, and I’ve worked here for several years.
Even so, I know that I’m not at the level of our CEO, Alex Thompson, who is said to be one of the top minds in the AI field.
Rumor has it that he’s young, maybe in his early thirties, but I’ve never seen him before.
He’s known for being a bit of a recluse and for rarely interacting with other employees, preferring to stay in his own office on the top floor.
One day, I received an email from his secretary saying that he wanted to meet with me.
It was a little unusual to get an email from him at all, so I immediately felt my heart beat faster.
As expected, when I opened my email, he just said that he wanted to meet later this afternoon.
I didn’t know what he wanted to talk about, but he was still my boss, so even though it was a bit sudden, I tried not to think about it too much.
Across the room from me, Mia Johnson walked over to her friend’s desk and leaned over to peer at her computer screen.
“What’s Parker doing?”
She whispered to her friend, who frowned and hunched over her desk protectively.
“Haven’t you heard?”
Mia’s friend whispered back.
“Apparently, Alex Thompson wants to see him.”
Mia’s eyes widened as she glanced over at Parker, who was sitting at his computer with his glasses perched on his nose as he typed away quickly.
She knew Parker quite well because they’d been friends since they were young.
He stood out from most people because he was tall and thin with glasses.
Most people in their city were on the shorter side, so Parker was quite tall compared to most people.
He also had an analytical mind and loved to program, and he was one of the top programmers in their office, which was why everyone was surprised when they found out that Alex Thompson had requested a meeting with him.
Mia frowned as she glanced around the room and noticed that everyone was staring at Parker and whispering amongst themselves.
The entire office was abuzz with excitement because it was so rare for the CEO to meet with an employee.
Alex Thompson was known for being a bit of a recluse, and most employees had never even seen him in person before.
“What do you think it’s about?”
Mia asked, arching an eyebrow.
“I don’t know,” her friend replied with a shrug, “but whatever it is, it must be important if the CEO has requested to meet with Parker.”
The two women exchanged a look before Mia tilted her head thoughtfully and returned to her own desk.
Parker Smith, the name of the protagonist in this story, sat at his computer with his hands hovering over the keyboard as he stared at the email in front of him.
Parker Smith, meet me in my office at 3 p.
The email was so brief that it didn’t have a subject line, but it had come directly from Alex Thompson himself.
Parker’s heart was racing as he wondered why the CEO of his company wanted to meet with him, but there was nothing to be done about it now.
Parker swallowed nervously as he glanced at the clock and realized that it was already 2:55 PM.
He took a deep breath to calm himself down before pushing back his chair and standing up.
Mia Johnson noticed that Parker was on his feet and made eye contact with him across the room.
Parker nodded in her direction before turning to make his way to the door.
Mia watched him go with a worried expression before turning back to her computer to continue working on the case that she was currently investigating.
Parker walked as quickly as he could without running out of breath as he made his way to the elevator and pressed the button to go up to the top floor.
Even though this was an unexpected meeting, Parker had always been someone who enjoyed solving puzzles and answering questions.
Mia liked to say that Parker had the heart of a detective because of his curious and analytical nature, and it was true that he had always been good at figuring things out.
Parker stood in the elevator with his hands folded behind his back and tried to keep his breathing steady as the elevator ascended.
As the numbers on the display changed and the elevator climbed higher and higher, Parker felt his heart pounding faster in his chest.
When the elevator finally came to a stop on the top floor and the doors opened with a soft ding, Parker took a deep breath and stepped out of the elevator.
The doors slid shut behind him, and Parker glanced around the hallway with a nervous expression.
The top floor was much quieter than the other floors below because there were fewer people and offices up here.
Parker could see another set of doors at the end of the hallway with the words CEO written on them in bold letters.
He took a deep breath to calm himself down before walking over to the doors and pushing them open.
Parker stepped into the office as he looked around in awe.
The office was large and filled with expensive furniture, but it wasn’t overly lavish like some people’s offices.
Alex Thompson was sitting behind his desk, and he looked up from his computer as Parker entered the room.
He had a commanding presence and intense blue eyes that seemed to see right through people when he looked at them.
He was wearing a crisp suit and had neatly combed hair that made him look more like a model than a CEO, but that was part of what made him so appealing to people.
It wasn’t just that he was successful; he was also easy to talk to and down-to-earth even though he had built one of the largest tech companies in the world from nothing.
When he saw Parker coming into the room, Alex stood up and walked around his desk with a warm smile on his face.
“Parker,” he said as he held out his hand, “it’s good to see you.”
“Y-You too,” Parker replied with a nervous smile as he shook Alex’s hand quickly before letting go.
“Please have a seat,” Alex said as he motioned to one of the chairs across from his desk.
Parker nodded quickly and took a seat before folding his hands together in front of him and waiting for Alex to speak first.
“Do you know why I called you here today?”
