I woke up to the sound of a woman crying.
It was a soft, gentle sound that seemed to be coming from the forest.
I sat up and looked around, but I couldn’t see anyone.
I was in the middle of a clearing, surrounded by trees and bushes.
The sun was shining brightly in the sky, and there wasn’t a cloud in sight.
I tried to remember how I got here, but my mind was blank.
The last thing I remembered was being on a plane with my unit, flying back home after the war had ended.
We were supposed to land in New York City, but something must have gone wrong.
I must have been thrown from the plane during the crash and ended up here in this strange place.
I got to my feet and started walking towards the sound of the crying.
It was getting louder now, and it sounded like it was coming from a young girl.
I pushed my way through the bushes and found myself standing at the edge of a cliff.
The girl was standing at the edge of the cliff, looking out over the valley, and it was then that I realized that she was crying because she had fallen from the sky.
I ran towards her, but she jumped before I could reach her.
I watched in horror as she plummeted down towards the village below, but before she could hit the ground, her body burst into a bright ball of light and shot back up into the sky.
I stood there for a moment, watching as she disappeared over the horizon, before turning around and making my way back into the forest.
I knew that I needed to find her, and that I needed to help her, but I didn’t know how.
I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a rustling in the bushes behind me.
I turned around and saw a small, furry creature emerge from the underbrush.
It looked like a cross between a rabbit and a squirrel, with big, round eyes and long, bushy tail.
I stared at it for a moment, unsure of what to do, before it suddenly leaped towards me and landed on my chest.
“Um,” it said, in a high-pitched voice.
“Are you okay?”
The world had gone dark around me.
I felt lost in an endless void of nothingness, my body suspended in time and space.
And then, just as suddenly as it had disappeared, the world came rushing back to me in a blinding burst of light.
I gasped as I sat up and looked around wildly.
I was lying on the ground in the middle of a clearing, surrounded by trees and bushes.
The sun was shining brightly overhead, and there wasn’t a cloud in sight.
It took me a moment to gather my wits and realize where I was: this strange new world that I had somehow been transported to.
This wasn’t the first time that something like this had happened to me.
The horrors of war had a way of warping reality, of tearing through the fabric of existence and depositing me in places beyond imagination.
But this felt different.
As I got to my feet, I realized that I felt younger and stronger than I had in years.
My body was free from the aches and pains that had plagued me for so long, and my mind was clear and sharp.
The air was sweet and clean, a far cry from the acrid stench of gunpowder and death that I had become accustomed to on the battlefield.
In fact, everything about this place seemed brighter and more vibrant than anything I had ever seen before.
As I stood there, taking it all in, I suddenly noticed a strange sound coming from somewhere nearby.
It took me a moment to place it: it was the sound of a waterfall, gurgling and splashing in the distance.
