Title: Eternal Motion
Chapter 1: Winning Tickets
I, Tessa Maslow, am a huge fan of the metalcore band Motionless in White.
I know all of their songs and have a deep meaning to some of them.
I've been waiting for what feels like forever for them to come to my town so I could see them live.
Finally, the day arrived when they announced the tour dates and my town was on the list!
I wasn't able to get tickets before they sold out, but luckily, my favorite radio station was having a contest where, if you were the fifth caller when they played one of their songs, you would win two tickets to the concert.
The day they were going to play one of the songs, I woke up early and made sure my phone was fully charged.
My best friend, Emily Carter, and I sat on opposite sides of my bed with our phones ready at the minute the song was about to play.
As soon as we heard the intro, we both quickly called the number.
After a few agonizing minutes, Emily hung up, but I told her not to worry, that she would get another chance before I did.
However, I was wrong.
The DJ answered my phone and told me I was the fifth caller!
I couldn't believe it!
I screamed and threw my arms around Emily, who was sitting on the other side of my bed.
We jumped up and down on the bed, our phones forgotten in our excitement.
Emily's laughter filled the room as she squeezed me back just as tightly as I was squeezing her.
"We're going to see Motionless in White!" she shouted, echoing my thoughts.
We spent the next hour planning what we were going to wear and which songs we hoped they would play.
We sprawled across my bedroom floor, surrounded by clothes.
"This one?" Emily held up a black lace top.
I nodded, picturing it paired with her leather skirt.
"Perfect," I said, tossing her a studded belt.
My outfit was already laid out—a band tee and ripped jeans.
Next, we discussed which songs we hoped they would play.
"They have to play 'Reincarnate,'" Emily said, her eyes gleaming.
I agreed, hoping they would also play "Eternally Yours."
Our laughter filled the room as we imagined the concert's energy.
The anticipation was electric, each detail we discussed making the event feel closer and more real.
Emily paused, a thoughtful look crossing her face.
"Hey, Tessa," she said slowly, "what if we meet them after the show?"
I blinked in surprise, my heart skipping a beat at the possibility.
I sat cross-legged on the floor, my laptop perched on the coffee table in front of me.
My fingers flew across the keyboard as I scrolled through fan forums and websites.
Emily leaned over my shoulder, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Backstage passes," I muttered, my mind racing with possibilities.
The idea of meeting Motionless in White face-to-face made my pulse quicken.
Emily nudged me playfully, her grin mischievous.
"Imagine talking to Ricky Olson," she teased, her voice filled with longing.
I found a promising lead—a contest where fans could share their most memorable concert stories and win backstage access.
Emily and I exchanged a determined glance, our minds already racing with ideas for our entry.
We huddled together over my laptop, the screen casting a dim glow in the room.
"Let's start writing our concert story now," I said, my fingers poised over the keys.
Emily nodded, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
We brainstormed, recalling our favorite concert moments and weaving them into a narrative that captured our passion for Motionless in White.
Each sentence felt like a step closer to meeting Ricky Olson.
As I typed, Emily suggested adding a moment when the crowd sang along to "Eternally Yours."
I smiled, imagining the sea of voices echoing through the venue.
Finally, we finished our draft.
Emily and I sat cross-legged on my bedroom floor, surrounded by crumpled drafts of our concert story.
The room was a mess, clothes strewn about from our earlier excitement.
Jake, a friend and music journalist with a knack for storytelling, had agreed to help us refine our entry.
He arrived with his laptop, settling in beside us on the couch.
"Let's see what you've got," he said, scanning our draft.
His fingers flew across the keyboard as he suggested changes, tightening the narrative and adding vivid details.
Emily and I watched in awe as our story transformed under his guidance.
Finally, Jake leaned back, satisfied.
"This should do it," he said confidently, handing the laptop back to me.
We submitted our story, hearts pounding with hope and anticipation.
Jake leaned back in his chair, a sly smile playing on his lips.
"You know," he said casually, "I might have a way to introduce you to Ricky Olson if your story wins."
Emily and I exchanged wide-eyed glances, our excitement bubbling over.
"Seriously? How?"
I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Jake shrugged, pretending nonchalance.
"I've interviewed the band before. Ricky and I got along pretty well."
Emily punched my arm playfully, her grin infectious.
"We have to win now," she declared.
We returned to our laptops, determined to perfect our story for the contest.
Hours passed, the room growing dim as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Emily and I sat with Jake in my living room, surrounded by the soft glow of our laptops.
The air was thick with anticipation, our fingers moving swiftly across the keyboards as we refined our story.
Jake leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"You know," he said, "Ricky Olson actually reads all the contest entries himself."
My heart skipped a beat, the pressure mounting.
Emily's eyes widened, and she nudged me excitedly.
"No way! That means he'll read ours!"
I nodded, trying to focus despite the fluttering in my chest.
We spent hours refining every word, crafting a story that would stand out from the rest.
Finally, Jake hit the submit button, sealing our fate.
Emily and I exchanged nervous glances, the weight of anticipation heavy in the air.
"Now we wait," Jake said, leaning back with a satisfied grin.
The next few days passed in a blur of restless energy and constant phone checks.
Each notification made my heart leap, only to settle back into disappointment when it wasn't the news we hoped for.
Emily tried to keep my spirits up with jokes and distractions, but my mind was fixed on Ricky Olson reading our story.
Finally, an email arrived from the contest organizers.
I sat in stunned silence, my eyes fixed on the screen.
Emily leaned over my shoulder, her breath hot against my neck.
"What does it say?" she asked, her voice trembling with anticipation.
I nodded, my throat dry.
"It's from Ricky Olson," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
"He wants to meet us."
Emily's eyes widened, her grip on my arm tightening.
"Ricky Olson wants to meet us? Oh my god!"
She shook me gently, her excitement infectious.
I smiled, my heart racing with anticipation.
The email was brief but intriguing.
Ricky wanted to meet us at midnight, at a secluded location he would provide later.
The secrecy only added to the allure, and Emily and I spent the rest of the day in a whirlwind of preparation.
We debated what to wear, choosing outfits that balanced casual and edgy.
We wanted to make a good impression, but also show our appreciation for the band's style.
As the clock neared midnight, we made our way to the designated location.
Emily glanced at me, her eyes sparkling with a mix of nerves and excitement.
"Do you think he really liked our story?" she asked, her voice barely containing her hope.
Jake chuckled softly, his confidence unwavering.
"Trust me, if Ricky wants to meet you, it's because he sees something special."
"I think he more than liked it," he said, his smile hinting at secrets.
"He wants to meet us for a reason, and I'm sure it's not just to congratulate us on winning."
Emily and I exchanged nervous glances, our anticipation growing with every step.
Finally, we arrived at the dimly lit venue, the sound of music pulsing through the air.
The backstage area was a flurry of activity, band members and crew moving with purpose.
Jake led us through the chaos, his presence a reassuring anchor.
We stopped in front of a door adorned with a sign that read "VIP Guests."
Jake knocked twice, and a voice called out from within.
"Come in!"
The door swung open, revealing a room filled with people I had only dreamed of meeting.
My heart raced as I scanned the room, searching for Ricky Olson amidst the sea of faces.
And then, there he was—leaning casually against a wall, guitar in hand.
His eyes met mine across the room, and an unexpected spark ignited between us.
Ricky's gaze held mine for a moment, a silent acknowledgment passing between us.
He pushed off from the wall, his movements fluid and deliberate.
He approached slowly, each step calculated as if testing the waters of this newfound connection. Emily nudged me forward, her encouragement unspoken but clear.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart.
This was the moment we'd been waiting for—the moment our lives would forever change.
As Ricky reached us, he extended a hand with a warm smile.
"Tessa, right?" he asked, his voice smooth and inviting.
I nodded, my hand trembling slightly as I accepted his handshake.
"Ricky Olson," he continued, his smile broadening as he turned to Emily.
"And you are?"
"Emily," she replied softly, her eyes wide with admiration.
"It's an honor to meet you both," Ricky said, his gaze flicking between us with interest.
"I have to say, your story really stood out. I'd love to hear more about what inspired it."
Emily and I exchanged nervous glances before nodding in unison.
Emily and I exchanged a glance, knowing this was just the beginning.
