I find myself stuck in a hotel room with my enemy for a week, with only one bed, for the two of us
"THIS IS A JOKE."
Jason Reed’s voice was low and even, the only way I knew he was furious.
"Right?"
I stared at the single bed in the small hotel room and shook my head.
"Nope. Just bad luck."
I didn’t glance at him; I knew his expression.
Anger simmered in his eyes, ready to boil over.
I’d seen that look a dozen times and it always preceded a yelling match.
A week alone in a room with only one bed was not going to help our situation "improve relations," as Sarah Jennings had so quaintly put it.
She’d arranged this little retreat for us to work on our novel together, but she’d obviously forgotten what she’d been like at our age.
Or how much Jason hated me.
"I can’t believe she did this to us."
His voice rose, but he caught himself, exhaling slowly.
