I was rummaging through the shelves of my school's old library, searching for a book that would help me with my math homework, when I stumbled upon something strange.
It was an old dusty book bound in black leather, with strange golden markings on the cover that looked like some sort of cryptic writing.
I opened the book, hoping that it would at least have some math problems in it, but instead found that all of the pages were completely blank.
I decided to put the book back on the shelf, but as I did, one of the pages turned to reveal that it wasn't completely blank after all.
On the page was a small golden emerald.
I picked up the emerald and examined it.
It was about the size of a quarter and had a red glow to it.
As I rolled it around in my hand, I started to feel a strange tingling in my fingers.
Suddenly, a book from one of the nearby shelves flew off and landed next to me on the table.
I looked up to see who had thrown it, but I was alone in the library.
I looked back down at the emerald in my hand and wondered if it had something to do with the book that had fallen.
I decided to test my theory.
I looked up at one of the shelves and focused on one of the books.
As I did, I could feel a strange power building up inside of me.
Suddenly, a warm tingling rushed through my body and one of the books on the shelf flew down onto the table next to the other one.
