A high school boy's life transforms when a red emerald grants him telekinetic powers.
The day everything changed started out like any ordinary day.
I woke up at my usual time, got dressed in the same clothes I always wore, and went downstairs for breakfast.
My mom had already left for work, but there was a note on the kitchen table reminding me to grab something to eat before heading off to school.
I poured myself a bowl of cornflakes and sat down to eat.
As I ate, I looked out the window and watched as the rain poured down.
It was really coming down, and I almost wished that I didn't have to go to school today so that I could just stay home and watch TV instead.
After finishing my breakfast, I grabbed my backpack and headed out the front door.

The rain was relentless, drumming against my hood as I trudged down the street.
I glanced at my watch and realized I was running late.
There was no way I’d make it on time if I took the usual route.
That’s when I remembered the old antique shop that cut through to the back alley leading straight to school.
I hesitated for a moment, but then shrugged off any doubts and made a beeline for the shop.
The bell above the door jingled as I stepped inside, shaking off the rain from my jacket.
The place smelled of aged wood and dust, a stark contrast to the fresh, wet air outside.
“Hello?” I called out, but there was no response.
Shelves lined with all sorts of oddities surrounded me—ancient clocks, porcelain dolls, and faded books.
I walked deeper into the shop, my footsteps echoing on the wooden floor.
A sudden creak made me jump, and I turned to see an old man emerging from behind a curtain in the back.
“Can I help you?” he asked, his voice gravelly but kind.
“Uh, just passing through,” I replied awkwardly. “Trying to get to school.”
He raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything more, just nodded and went back behind his curtain.
I continued walking, my eyes wandering over the strange items on display.
One particular object caught my attention—a small, ornate box with intricate carvings.

It seemed out of place among the other dusty relics, almost glowing under the dim light.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I reached out to touch it.
As soon as my fingers brushed against the surface, a sharp jolt shot up my arm.
I yanked my hand back, heart pounding in my chest.
“What was that?” I muttered to myself, rubbing my tingling fingers.
Ignoring the strange sensation, I hurried towards the back door of the shop.
Just as I reached for the handle, a voice stopped me in my tracks.
“Wait!”
I turned around to see the old man standing there again, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made me uneasy.
“You shouldn’t touch things you don’t understand,” he said sternly.
“I’m sorry,” I stammered. “I didn’t mean to—”
Before I could finish my sentence, he held up a hand to silence me.
“Take this,” he said, handing me a small pendant on a leather cord.
“It will protect you.”
“Protect me from what?” I asked, bewildered.

“Just take it,” he insisted. “And be careful.”
I hesitated for a moment before taking the pendant from him.
It felt warm in my hand, almost pulsing with energy.
“Thanks,” I mumbled, slipping it into my pocket before finally stepping out into the alleyway.
The rain had slowed to a drizzle as I made my way towards school.
My mind raced with questions about what had just happened in that shop.
But there was no time to dwell on it now—I had to get to class before the bell rang.
