Chapter 1
I was in love with my best friend.
She was the only one who knew I was bisexual, and she didn’t care.
We’d been friends since we were kids, and I’d always had a crush on her.
But I never told her how I felt because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship.
Then she started dating Spencer, and I thought I’d lost my chance forever.
But when they broke up, I finally told her the truth.
And she felt the same way.
We were together for a few months, but it didn’t last.
I don’t know why we broke up; it just kind of happened.
We both moved on, but we stayed friends.
And now, after all these years, we’re back in each other’s lives again.
It’s like nothing has changed between us.
I still love her, and I don’t know what to do about it.
"Will you marry me?"
The words still run through my mind from time to time, even after all these years.
They were the happiest moment of my life—the day Emily proposed to me and asked me to be with her forever.
But I couldn’t say yes that day because something didn’t feel right without Spencer there.
He was on a family vacation when Emily broke up with him and asked me out just before he left for his trip.
He was supposed to be gone for two weeks, but he returned early—just in time to see Emily get down on one knee.
I knew right away that he still loved her and wanted her back, so I told him the truth: she had asked me out while they were broken up, and I couldn’t say yes without him there to witness it.
We waited… and waited… But Spencer never came back.
Months went by, but he never returned any of our calls or messages.
I didn’t know what to think, and neither did Emily.
