Taylor Swift: If TikTok Is Banned, I Will Leave the U.S.
I was in the mood to make a statement.
And what better way to do so than to post it on TikTok for all of my fans to see?
As one of the biggest social media influencers in the world, I knew that any message I sent out would be heard loud and clear.
So, when the rumors about TikTok being banned started swirling around, I decided to put my foot down and make sure everyone knew how serious I was about this.
Needless to say, it seemed to have worked, because as of this afternoon, I had over 15 million likes on the video that had been posted less than 24 hours ago.
In just a matter of hours, I had become the biggest meme on the internet, with people taking my ultimatum as a joke.
Comments were flooding in by the second, begging me not to leave and asking me where I was planning on going if TikTok was banned.
Fans were suggesting I move to South Korea, Japan, and even moving in with them so they could keep me company.
Thankfully, my best friend Selena had joined the conversation by leaving a comment under my post that had gotten over 2 million likes on its own.
āIf youāre leaving, Iām coming with you,ā she wrote, along with a heart emoji, hinting at her full support of my decision and a possible adventure we could be going on together.
Not only that, but Ed Sheeran himself decided to hop onto the bandwagon by commenting, āIāll come too if you take me,ā along with a crying laughing emoji.
Funnily enough, his comment got more likes than Selenaās, with over 5 million people smashing the heart button to show their approval.
It was safe to say that the three of us were pretty tight as far as friendships went in Hollywood.
It seemed as though everyone on this platform knew it too, which is why they went crazy about our comments like they did.
As I kept scrolling through, it felt like I was coming across every celebrity under the sun, all leaving their own thoughts and opinions on my video.
Some were saying that I was overreacting, while others were telling me that they would miss me if I did decide to leave for good.
The combination of comments seemed to make me feel both loved and hated at the same time, which is why I took most of it with a grain of salt.
I knew that I would never really leave, but it was nice to know how many people cared about me regardless.
Just before I was about to exit out of the app, a notification popped up from my friend Haileeās account, letting me know that she had commented on my video too.
I clicked on it, watching as she left her own message for me.
āJust donāt forget me when youāre off gallivanting around the world,ā she joked, which made me laugh out loud.
