Scenario:Lorena Rivera, the former wife of a crime lord, takes desperate measures to find her kidnapped son with the help of an FBI agent, but their plan is complicated when they become implicated in the kidnapping themselves.
Create my version of this story
I am the ex-wife of a crime lord.
At least that’s what the tabloids would say if they ever found out who I used to be married to.
That part is true, but the story goes much deeper, and it’s not something I’m proud of, which is why I don’t want my son growing up surrounded by any of that.
My husband was a criminal, but he wasn’t always that way.
And when he became one, I turned a blind eye to everything he did.
Until the day he started hitting me.
That was the day I knew I had to leave him.
It was either that or die at his hand.
I loved him once, but love can turn into hate just as easily, especially when you’re on the receiving end of fists.
We had a child together and that made leaving him harder, but it also made it easier because I knew if I stayed, he would start hitting Carlos too, and I couldn’t let that happen.
Carlos is all that matters to me.
I left my ex-husband three years ago and we haven’t seen him since.
That is until three days ago, when he came back with a vengeance.
Carlos was taken right out from under my nose.
I thought he was safe at school, but instead of coming home on the bus like he was supposed to do, he disappeared without a trace.
I knew who took him, and I went looking for help, even though my pride told me not to go to the cops since they would never believe me if I told them who took my son.
I was desperate, so I went anyway.
I didn’t have any other choice.
I needed help finding my son before his father could get to him first.
My ex-husband made it clear if I ever left him, he would take our son away from me and I would never see either of them again.
Carlos has been missing for three days now and I’m afraid for his safety.
I know what my ex-husband is capable of and he’s not above killing our child to get back at me for leaving him.
I don’t even want to imagine what Carlos is going through right now.
I already know he’s been taken out of the country and brought to Mexico by his father’s men.
They’re heading back there as we speak because it’s a place where no one will look for them, except for me.
I’ve tried everything I could think of to find my son and bring him home safely, including doing something stupid.
It was a move born of desperation and fear, and now it’s coming back to bite me in the ass.
I know I should have gone along with Thompson’s plan from the beginning, but I didn’t want to stay behind while he went off to save my son on his own either.
