Dear Mom & Dad,
I'm so sorry...
I know you're going to be mad at me, but I just can't take it anymore.
I know I should be strong enough to fight through this, but every time I think I am... something else happens, and I just can't take the pain anymore.
Not just physically, but emotionally too.
It's like no matter what I do; no matter how hard I try... I always end up hurt in the end.
I know you're going to blame Emily, but please don't.
She's the only real friend I have.
The only one who has been there for me through all of this.
I know she's tall and beautiful and popular... but she's also the only one who knows my secret.
The only one who knows what I've really been through here at Maywater High.
Please don't hate her because of me.
Whispers of Maywater High
I folded the letter, my hands trembling.
I placed it gently on my bed, tears streaming down my face.
My heart pounded as I glanced around my room, taking in the familiar surroundings one last time.
I swallowed hard, feeling a lump in my throat.
My mind raced with memories of laughter and love, overshadowed by pain and fear.
I picked up the bottle of sleeping pills from my nightstand and opened it.
My fingers shook as I poured a handful into my hand.
I stared at them for a second, wondering...
Is this really it?
Is this really the end?
Whispers of Maywater High
But then I thought of everything I'd been through, and I knew...
It was the only way to escape.
The only way to find peace.
I put the pills in my mouth and swallowed them with a gulp of water from my glass.
Each one felt like a step closer to peace.
A step closer to freedom from this hellhole called Maywater High.
A step closer to leaving all the pain behind.
I lay down on my bed, clutching a photo of Mom, Dad, and me to my chest.
Whispers of Maywater High
My vision began to blur, and I felt my heart racing.
Then it slowed...
Then raced again...
Then slowed again...
I gripped the photo tighter, tears soaking its edges.
"Sasha!"
I heard a voice calling my name, but it was distant.
It sounded like Emily, but I couldn't be sure.
"Sasha, wake up!"
The voice grew louder, more urgent.
Whispers of Maywater High
I tried to open my eyes, but they felt heavy.
They wouldn't budge.
"Sasha, please..."
I felt someone shaking me, but it was weak.
I couldn't respond.
"Sasha!"
The voice screamed this time.
"Sasha, don't leave me! Please don't leave me!"
I tried to talk, to tell her everything would be okay... but my mouth wouldn't move.
My body felt numb and distant, like it wasn't even mine anymore.
"Sasha!"
The voice grew quieter this time.
"Sasha..."
I felt a hand in mine, and I knew it was Emily's.
She squeezed it gently as she whispered in my ear...
"Tomorrow will be better. I promise."
Whispers of Maywater High
"911, what's your emergency?"
I heard the voice on the other end of the line.
"Please... help... my friend... she's not breathing..."
The voice was shaking and breaking.
It was Emily.
She'd called for help.
I tried to open my eyes again, but they still wouldn't budge.
I tried to talk, but my mouth still wouldn't move.
I felt Emily shaking me again, and I knew she was trying to keep me awake.
"Sasha, don't leave me! Please don't leave me!"
Whispers of Maywater High
She squeezed my hand tighter as she whispered in my ear...
"Please don't leave me. I need you."
"Sasha!"
I heard another voice calling my name, this one deeper.
It was Mark.
He'd come into the room.
"Sasha!"
He rushed over to where Emily was sitting on the floor with me in her arms.
"What happened?"
Mark asked as he knelt beside us.
"I don't know," Emily replied, her voice shaking.
"I came in here and found her like this. She wasn't breathing, so I called 911."
"Is she breathing now?"
Mark asked as he put his ear to my mouth.
"Yeah... I think so..."
Whispers of Maywater High
Mark reached into my pockets, searching for some kind of identification.
His fingers brushed against something crumpled, and he pulled it out.
It was a lottery ticket.
He stared at it, his eyes widening as he took in the jackpot numbers.
"Emily..."
He handed her the ticket, and she gasped.
They exchanged a glance, both of them realizing...
This could change everything.
But then their eyes fell on me, and they snapped back to reality.
The paramedics rushed into the room with a stretcher, and Mark stood up to let them through.
Whispers of Maywater High
They lifted me onto the stretcher, and Mark followed closely behind them.
Emily trailed after him, clutching the lottery ticket in her hand like it was a lifeline.
Like it was a symbol of hope in this darkest of moments.
I was loaded into an ambulance, and Mark climbed in beside me.
He held my hand as the ambulance sped away from the house.
"I'm here, Sasha," he whispered in my ear.
"We'll get through this together."
Whispers of Maywater High
I lay on the hospital bed, my breathing steady but shallow.
Mark and Emily waited anxiously in the sterile waiting room.
They'd been there for hours, their minds racing with worry.
A doctor came out of the elevator and walked towards them.
He was wearing a white coat, and his dark hair was perfectly styled.
He had a kind face, but his eyes were intense.
They were brown, almost black, and they seemed to bore into Mark and Emily as he approached them.
"Do you two have a friend here?"
He asked, looking between them.
Mark stood up, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked at the doctor...
Whispers of Maywater High
"Yeah... Sasha. Is she okay?"
The doctor nodded...
"She's stable. I'm Dr. Grey."
Mark shook Dr. Grey's hand...
"I'm Mark. This is Emily."
Dr. Grey smiled...
"Nice to meet you both. I've been treating Sasha for the past few hours. She's been through a lot, but I think I can help her."
Mark's grip on Dr. Grey's hand tightened...
"How do you know her?"
Dr. Grey sighed...
"I've treated other kids from Maywater High. They've all been through similar things... bullying... rape..."
Mark's eyes widened in shock...
Whispers of Maywater High
I slowly opened my eyes, and Dr. Grey was sitting in a chair beside me.
Mark and Emily were on the other side of my bed, their faces pale as they stared at me.
My throat was dry and sore, and I tried to swallow.
My mouth was parched, and my tongue felt like sandpaper.
"Here, Sasha," Dr. Grey said as he handed me a glass of water.
I took a few sips, trying to moisten my mouth.
"Sasha..."
Mark whispered my name as tears streamed down his face.
He reached out and took my hand in his.
Emily did the same, taking my other hand in hers.
Whispers of Maywater High
I looked between them, trying to smile...
But I couldn't find the strength.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice hoarse from the tube they'd used to pump my stomach.
They'd found the suicide letter I'd written to my parents, so they knew everything...
The bullying... the rape...
Everything.
"It's not your fault," Mark whispered as he squeezed my hand tighter.
"We're here for you."
I tried to talk again, but the words wouldn't come out.
My mind was clouded with pain and confusion, and I didn't know what to say.
Whispers of Maywater High
I lay in my hospital bed, feeling trapped and desperate.
My mind raced with thoughts of escape, but I knew I couldn't do anything.
I was stuck in this sterile room, surrounded by the machines that were keeping me alive.
Mark and Emily were sitting in the chairs beside my bed, staring at me with sad eyes.
They'd been there for hours, watching me as I slept.
I tried to smile at them, but my lips wouldn't curve upwards.
I felt like I was drowning in a sea of pain, and I didn't know how to keep my head above water.
I needed something...
Anything...
To take the pain away.
Whispers of Maywater High
I waited until Mark and Emily were asleep, their heads resting on the edge of my bed.
Then I slowly sat up, trying not to make any noise.
My stomach lurched as I moved, and I felt dizzy from lying down for so long.
I looked around the room, trying to find something...
Anything...
That would help me escape from this hellhole.
My eyes landed on a pair of scissors on the counter across the room.
They were sharp and pointed, and I knew they'd do the trick.
I slowly got out of bed, trying not to make any noise as I walked towards the counter.
Whispers of Maywater High
I slowly got out of bed, my heart pounding in my chest.
I tried to move quietly as I walked towards the counter, not wanting to wake Mark and Emily.
They were sleeping peacefully, unaware of my turmoil.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I glanced back at them, and I felt a pang in my heart.
I loved them so much, but I couldn't do this anymore...
I couldn't go through with it again.
I reached the counter, my hands shaking as I grabbed the scissors.
They felt cold and hard in my hands, and I knew they'd do what I needed them to.
My mind raced with thoughts of pain and fear...
Memories of the bullying... the rape...
Whispers of Maywater High
Everything that had happened to me over the past few months.
I tried to push the thoughts away, but they overwhelmed me.
My breathing was quick and shallow, and I felt like I was going to pass out.
I looked at Mark and Emily again, tears streaming down my face as I stared at them.
Then I turned away, unable to face them any longer.
With a deep breath, I pressed the scissors against my neck.
My hand shook violently as I hesitated, battling with my inner demons.
Whispers of Maywater High
My heart was pounding in my chest, and I felt like I was going to throw up.
I closed my eyes, trying to find the strength to do it...
But I couldn't.
I was too scared...
Too weak.
Suddenly, Emily stirred in her sleep, murmuring my name.
"Sasha..."
Mark awoke with a start, his eyes flying to me as he sat up in his chair.
"What the fuck?"
He jumped from his chair, rushing towards me as he saw the scissors in my hand.
Whispers of Maywater High
"Emily, call for help," he yelled as he grabbed me from behind.
He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight embrace.
The scissors clattered to the floor as he loosened my grip on them.
Emily was screaming hysterically as she pressed the call button beside my bed.
Mark held me tightly, trying to calm me down as I shook violently in his arms.
I was crying uncontrollably, unable to speak or breathe.
My mind was clouded with pain and fear, and I didn't know what was happening.
"Sasha, it's okay," Mark whispered in my ear as he rocked me back and forth.
"I'm here for you. You're not alone."
