I was born in a small village in the countryside.
My family was poor, so I had to go to work as a child.
I saw the injustices of the ruling regime and the suffering of the people, so I vowed to change this situation when I grew up.
When I was fourteen years old, I went to the county town to work as a waiter in a restaurant.
At that time, there were many people who went to the restaurant to eat and drink.
I heard them talk about the country and the people, and I felt that they were right.
I also wanted to change this situation.
So I started to organize some young people to go out and protest against the government.
But we were soon suppressed by the government forces.
Many of my friends were arrested, and some of them were even killed.
At that time, I was very sad and angry.
But I didn't give up.

The restaurant was always bustling with noise and activity.
I moved between tables, balancing trays of steaming dishes and refilling cups of tea.
The patrons' conversations buzzed around me like a swarm of bees.
They spoke of the country's dire state, the corruption, and the suffering of the people.
Their words ignited a fire within me.
"Liang Wei, more tea over here!" called out Mr. Zhang from his usual corner table.
He was a regular, always discussing politics with anyone who would listen.
I hurried over with the teapot, eager to catch snippets of their conversation.
"The government is bleeding us dry," Mr. Zhang said, slamming his fist on the table.
"We can't go on like this."
I nodded as I poured his tea.
"You’re right, Mr. Zhang," I said quietly.
"We need to do something."
He looked at me with a mixture of surprise and approval.

"You're young, but you have spirit," he said.
"Be careful, though. The government doesn't take kindly to dissent."
I knew he was right, but my resolve only strengthened.
I started to gather a group of young people who felt the same way I did.
We met in secret, whispering our plans in hushed tones.
One night, we decided to take action.
We gathered in the town square, holding makeshift banners and chanting slogans for democracy.
Our voices echoed through the empty streets.
"Down with the oppressive regime!" we shouted.
"Freedom for the people!"
The response was swift and brutal.
Government forces descended upon us with batons and tear gas.
Chaos erupted as they charged into our ranks.
"Run!" someone screamed.
I turned to see my friends being beaten and dragged away.
My heart pounded in my chest as I dodged through the crowd, trying to avoid capture.
"Liang Wei!" a voice called out.

I glanced back to see Mei Ling, one of our group members, struggling against two soldiers.
Without thinking, I rushed towards her.
"Let her go!" I yelled, grabbing a piece of wood from the ground and swinging it at the soldiers.
One died right way
Pain exploded in my head, but I didn't stop.
I suddenly had a heart attack.
"Run!" I shouted at her.
She hesitated for a moment before darting down an alleyway.
Then she fell.
We stumbled through the narrow streets, the sounds of chaos fading behind us.
Finally, we collapsed in an alleyway, gasping for breath.
"We can't give up," Mei Ling said between sobs.
"We have to keep fighting."
I nodded, wiping the blood from my face.
"For our friends," I said. "For everyone."
Suddenly, footsteps echoed down the alleyway.

The footsteps grew louder.
I tightened my grip on Mei's hand, pulling her behind a crumbling wall.
We crouched low, hearts pounding.
A flashlight beam swept across the room.
I held my breath, feeling Mei's trembling beside me.
The beam moved away, and the footsteps receded.
I exhaled slowly, meeting Mei's wide eyes.
"We need to find Zhang," I whispered.
Mei nodded, determination replacing fear.
We slipped out of the building, moving silently through the shadows.
The night air was cool against my skin, a stark contrast to the heat of our fear.
We navigated through narrow alleys and deserted streets, avoiding any light that could give us away.
"Do you think Zhang is still at the safe house?" Mei asked in a hushed tone.
"I hope so," I replied. "We need his guidance now more than ever."
The city was eerily quiet, the usual hustle and bustle replaced by an oppressive silence.
Buildings loomed over us like silent sentinels, their windows dark and empty.

We moved quickly but carefully, every sound amplified in the stillness of the night.
As we approached the safe house, I signaled for Mei to stay back while I checked for any signs of danger.
I peered around the corner, my heart racing.
The door to the safe house was slightly ajar, a sliver of light spilling out onto the street.
"Stay here," I whispered to Mei. "I'll go check it out."
She nodded, her eyes wide with worry.
I crept towards the door, my senses on high alert.
Pushing it open slowly, I stepped inside.
The room was dimly lit by a single lantern on the table.
Zhang sat there, his face etched with worry and exhaustion.
"Zhang!" I whispered urgently.
He looked up, relief flooding his features as he saw me.
"Liang Wei! Thank heavens you're safe," he said, standing up quickly. "Where's Mei?"
"She's outside," I replied. "It's not safe here. We need to regroup and plan our next move."
Zhang nodded. "You're right. We can't stay here much longer. The revolution needs us."
I motioned for Mei to come inside.

She entered cautiously, her eyes scanning the room for any threats.
"We need to strike back before it's too late," Zhang said firmly. "The people are counting on us."
"We're ready," I said, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. "What do we do next?"
Zhang laid out a map on the table. "There's an armory nearby. If we can get our hands on some weapons, we'll have a fighting chance."
I studied the map intently. "How heavily guarded is it?"
"Not too heavily," Zhang replied. "But we'll need to be quick and precise."
Mei stepped forward. "I'll go with you," she said determinedly.
"No," Zhang interjected. "You both need to stay together. I'll gather more of our comrades and meet you there."
I nodded in agreement. "Alright. We'll head to the armory and wait for you."
With a plan in place, we prepared to move out.
The weight of our mission pressed heavily on my shoulders, but I knew we had no choice.
As we slipped back into the shadows of the night, I felt a surge of resolve.
The revolution could not wait.

The moonlight cast long shadows on the cobblestone streets.
We moved silently, our footsteps barely making a sound.
As we turned a corner, I suddenly froze.
A group of armed government soldiers blocked our path.
My heart raced, pounding in my chest like a drum.
Mei's eyes widened in fear, her breath quickening.
"Stop right there!" one of the soldiers shouted, raising his rifle.
"Hands up!" another commanded, his voice harsh and unyielding.
I grabbed Mei's hand and pulled her into a narrow alley without hesitation.
"Run!" I whispered urgently, my voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart.
We sprinted down the alley, bullets whizzing past us, ricocheting off the walls.
Mei stumbled on a loose stone, but I caught her before she fell.
"Keep going!" I urged, pulling her along with renewed determination.
We ducked into an abandoned building, its windows shattered and walls crumbling.
The air inside was thick with dust and decay.
We pressed ourselves against a wall, trying to catch our breath.
"We need to find another way," I whispered, my voice steady despite the fear coursing through me.
Mei nodded, her eyes now filled with determination rather than fear.
She wiped the sweat from her brow and took a deep breath.

"We can't let them stop us," she said firmly.
I scanned the room for any possible escape routes.
There was a staircase leading to the upper floors and a door that seemed to lead to the back of the building.
"We'll go upstairs," I decided. "It might give us a better vantage point."
We moved quickly but cautiously up the creaking stairs.
Each step felt like it could give us away.
At the top, we found a small window overlooking the street below.
Peering out, I saw more soldiers patrolling the area.
"They're everywhere," Mei whispered, her voice tinged with frustration.
"We'll have to wait for an opening," I replied. "Stay low and stay quiet."
Minutes felt like hours as we crouched by the window, watching the soldiers' movements.
Finally, there was a brief lull in their patrols.
"Now," I whispered urgently. "Let's go."
We slipped out of the building and into another narrow alleyway.
The city around us was eerily silent except for the distant sounds of soldiers shouting orders.
"Do you think Zhang will make it to the armory?" Mei asked as we moved through the shadows.
"He has to," I replied. "We need those weapons if we're going to stand a chance."
As we neared our destination, we heard voices ahead.
I motioned for Mei to stop and listened carefully.

"It's clear," one soldier said. "Let's move on."
We waited until their footsteps faded before continuing forward.
The armory was just ahead, its imposing structure looming in the darkness.
"We're almost there," I whispered to Mei.
She nodded, gripping my hand tightly.
Together, we approached the entrance cautiously.
Suddenly, a spotlight flickered on, illuminating our position.
"Intruders!" a soldier shouted from above.
"Run!" I yelled, pulling Mei towards the side of the building.
We dashed towards a side door, hoping it would be unlocked.
To our relief, it opened easily.
Inside, rows of weapons lined the walls.
"We need to grab as much as we can carry," I said urgently.
Mei nodded and began filling a bag with rifles and ammunition.
I did the same, my hands shaking slightly from adrenaline.
Just as we were about to leave, we heard footsteps approaching rapidly from outside.
"They're coming!" Mei said frantically.
I looked around for another exit and spotted a small window at the back of the room.
"This way!" I called out.
We scrambled through the window just as soldiers burst into the armory behind us.
Hitting the ground outside, we rolled and got back on our feet quickly.
"Keep moving!" I urged Mei as we ran into another dark alleyway.
